I heard Dennis was putting together a Train Trip this season. I'd stay out of his Kaboose if I were you though. Not even the guy from Sesame Street can sell enough sunshine to for that. In fact, that is where the sun don't shine.....Ask Burgee, he should know.....

LOL

I just went back and read the last week's worth of comments, for what they are worth, and saw that whole "train" of thought...LOL....that was hilarious! What were you all on that day? Bret Michael's bus make it in town for a stop or something? ;)

And I think there needs to be someone selling some sunshine on this blog....what's it gonna take? I leave and everyone gets all sad! I'm getting a complex! Is this really what happens when I take a vacation from you guys (and girls)?? Come on! :)

(for those who did not catch it....I'm joking!)

Have a great weekend, everyone!

A train trip all the way to Colorado and back would be a pretty long gaycation...

I dont know what these guys are referring to; but I'm thinking those games March 11th and 12th in Colorado and Rapid City are prime road trip material....

I think that seeing several different new teams in the coliseum will be great this year. I just added up mileage via google earth for the Komet road trips this year. If they plan on going by bus it will be about 19339 miles for the road trips this year.

Not an ihl fan strikes again with yet another comment that is nothing but hateful towards the Frankes. Get a life dude!!!!!

I bet the frankes will pay the chl to have one of the divisions named the franke division. Any takers?

interesting schedule. ...... love the optimistic view that we get to see new teams in here. yeah like 6 times.. the other 60 games are reserved for Dayton and Evansville.

Negative nelly alert! Negative nelly alert!

If Blake's count of 21 games against CHL teams is right, anything less than 32 points in those games would be disappointing--especially with the nucleus that the Ks have coming back.

JR
Fri, 07/23/2010 - 8:09pm

Aside from the fact that we play Dayton 4 times in a row in December (really dont understand that one...) its pretty much what I expected... ALOT of games against the teams formally known as the IHL....

I really hope that Evansville and Dayton have entertaining teams this season! If not...........

Positive Patty alert: I like the nucleus we have signed back, I like the schedule, I'm looking forward to this coming season....GO KOMETS!! How about that, indy ks fan? ;)

B-line Baby, I am glad that you are looking forward to this coming season. I want everyone to look forward to the season. It is just my opinion that based on the history of the CHL that the caliber of play will be considerably less than what Komet fans are used to. Like I said in my earlier post, if the Ks do not earn at least 32 points from their 21 games against the CHL teams, it should be considered a disappointment.

BLB, the Bret Michaels comment deserves the Post of the Day award and should be in serious contention for the Post of the Week award. Great catch!!

We get to beat up on Quad City both Thanksgiving and New Years Eve.

Just a guess, but I'd think all the Dayton games in mid/late December would be because they are the closest team and it allows everyone to remain fairly close to their families during the Christmas holiday.

Beyond that, my reaction is this: Okay. I see some CHL teams that I don't know, and therefore haven

Does evansville have a coach or players at this time?

JR
Sat, 07/24/2010 - 3:02am

What would they need those for??? LOL

JR
Sat, 07/24/2010 - 3:26am

Honestly, they could have gotten rid of the trip to Arizona and added another trip to Colorado/Rapid City and Missouri/Wichita...

1 round trip to play 2 games in Arizona = @3640miles

2 trips to the above mentioned 4 cities for 4 games = @4175miles

This would have given the K's a couple more games against CHL northern division teams...

And talk about being out on an island... Arizona only has 2 teams (Odessa and Colorado) that fall under the 1000mile travel distance... No wonder they have had money/ownership problems..... Geez!

JR, you are right, the Komets will walk right through evansville & dayton all year long. These teams are being run by the "franke" :)

mightbite--I don't T H I N K that is so. Your not giving Gratz any credit at all. The kid is sharp and on the ball. He knows how to coach. I think Dayton will be a thorn in our side all season. It wouldn't be my first mistake and surely not my last but I just wouldn't rule anybody out before they drop the puck.

The only thing I know about Evansville the owner has more money than brains. I also know where it is located.

We saw last year that on any given night someone can beat you.

Wendy
Sat, 07/24/2010 - 5:16am

Yeah, especially before January/February when the Komets look around and decide that, hey, maybe they should start taking the games a bit more seriously. And it's not that I question Gratz. But was Marks really so bad, either? He is the ECHL all-time leader in games coached and games won, as I understand it.

Marks did an outstanding job with what he had to work with, i hope gratz is a good recruiter, because with limited cash to pay good players i dont know if scotty bowman would make a difference in dayton.

Sat, 07/24/2010 - 8:14am

I just wanted to stir things up.No I give gratz no credit. When they could of had Martinson & others that have won championships, they went with "Franke" coach. The guys dayton signed so far can't even get into the Komets training camp.I bet "Franke" signings. :)

What has Brian Gratz done to "be given any credit"? He has zero credentials as a "AA" level coach.

Marks may no longer be able to relate to young players.

As for Gratz now being the target here....yaaaawwwwwnnnnnn

Sat, 07/24/2010 - 11:00am

I make my comment on Marks even though he recently took a job being coach and director of a junior team in Manitoba. But there is a difference between coaching youth and coaching young pros. I am not sure his coaching style goes well with todays late 20's players.

Bob
Sat, 07/24/2010 - 11:06am

How is a coach (at any level) going to find out if he/she can do the job if they are not given the opportunity to prove themselves? Even the greats like Scotty Bowman, Toe Blake and others started out somewhere....how does one get the experience if someone does'nt take a chance on them?

Even with most of us, when we began our working lives, we had no experience when we were younger, someone was willing to gives us our first job at whatever we do for a living.

Let's keep that in mind and give Brian a chance before you bash the kid...is that too much to ask?

MR SNUFFLUPUGUS
Sat, 07/24/2010 - 11:28am

Well said Bob...
The "credit" that should be given to him right now is that he got the job. That is impressive enough and an accomplishment that the blogging blowhards would never be able to attain. But they will then say something like "uhhhh he must have gotten the job because nobody else wanted it" or some nonsense of that type.
He got the job, whenever they are not playing the Komets I hope he does very well. Both for the sake of Brian and the fact that Dayton needs some success to get some sustained fan support.
