Tailing the Komets

Schedule pushed back... again

Komets general manager David Franke just said the CHL has requested some more information and time and the 2010-11 schedule may not be released until next week.

Franke also said he expects to hear from Frankie DeAngelis this week, Guy Dupuis and Brandon Warner. He said the Komets will not try to replace Matt Syroczynski in the lineup because they don't have the payroll left for a first-line player.

``We don't have the money to afford a high-priced foward now,'' Franke said. ``We're looking more toward the young kids, and we've got a few that we'll announce this week. We don' t have the money on the cap. Once we made the move on (Mathieu) Curadeau, that kind of tightened everything up.''

Franke said contract offers to Dupuis, Warner and DeAngelis were all factored into the salary cap before the Curadeau signing.

Want to know when it was announced last year? July 29.

Sebring to the rescue again on behalf on the Frankes.. The release date for last years campaign doesn't really hold much water this year IMO... after-all, that was a different league even..

With that said, hopefully the "next week" prediction comes true. Would be nice to plan some time for games and such.

Wonderful job with the roster thus far. Excited to see how it finishes up. Job well done on that respect to the Frankes.

mightbite is a "tease"...And please don't try to blame the Franke's for the schedule delay, that blame can be placed on the shoulders of the CHL powers.

do not think anyone blamed the Frankes for the schedule release.. My blame would be more on their public communications/relations.

K123 says "Sebring to the rescue again on behalf on the Frankes.."

Then claimes, "do not think anyone blamed the Frankes for the schedule release.."

I'm sure you weren't blaming the Frankes, you would never do that, right? It's just your wording left that impression.

Agree with you on the signings so far, beginning to shape up rather well. Will be exciting (I hope) to see how this team fairs against the CHL teams..

Not sure why do you consider that to the rescue, especially since they have about as much control over it as you or I. I knew someone would ask so I looked it up ahead of time. Two years ago it was June 2, three years ago July 10 and four years ago July 5.

Steve - again. never blamed them for release or non-release of the schedule. Comment was made toward Blake for his immediate response to mightbites apparent discomfort. In mightbites post he referred to the "7 - 10 day" joke of a response the Frankes give out all the time...

Sorry for the confusion. In my second post i very clearly stated i didn't believe anyone was blaming them for the schedule..

Blake - i mean no disrespect, but more often than not you go above and beyond trying to defend them on all kinds of issues. Seemed like you were ready for it again and jumped at first site. ...

Don't get me wrong. Frankes do a fine fine job.. Just sometimes, even when they are deserving of ridicule, some people go over the top to shove the Franke Halo down our respective throats.

And when are they deserving of ridicule by a so called fan who doesn't know the complete story. Someone should just keep his mouth shut once in a while imo.

Everything about the CHL is a joke. 16 of 18 teams in the playoffs. No announcements about the salary cap. Continual postponements for announcing the schedule. Everything the CHL does makes me more comfortable with my decision to become a fan of the Cyclones and the ECHL.

Blake,

If I remember correctly, back in the early to mid 1990's I seem to recall that the schedule often did not get released until late July to early August every year.

Having said that, I'm sure that several things will be released in addition to the schedule...

Blake, any response from the league (CHL) or the K's on how everyone is tearing this playoff format to shreds??? Curious to hear thier reactions....

Come one people. Last 3 years we only had 6-7 arenas to deal with. This time we have 18 with less of a schedule. Get back to the offices, your families, and be patience.

Indyfan, wont miss you. The cyclones need more fans.

In no way am I making excuses for anyone, I am only applying common sense and reason. We really arent this stupid are we? Go Komets!!!!

Mr. Franke said the schedule would be released by the 15th. Who cares when last years was? It's not even relevant to the point. They said the 15th, it didn't happen. I'm sure there are reasons.

If I tell my mortgage company I'll have their money on the 15th, they don't care why I'm telling them on the 19th that I don't have it, they just want thier money.

Is it wrong for paying customers to hold an organization to their word?

I'll see what I can find later this week JR. It's been a little nuts with city swimming yesterday and women's city golf today and Wildcat special section on Thursday. For some reason, the folks who sign my checks don't realize that hockey season lasts 12 months. I've tried to convince them, but...

Not an ihl fan: You should really make note when you are copying someone else's text. Give credit where credit is due.

And why does the discussion always lapse into people telling other respondents to keep their mouths closed or saying "we won't miss you"? Must we hate each other just because we disagree?

Mac is good at fighting and.......and............and......? I think I might have seen him score a goal or two.

Not an ihl fan has said (with sources even!) what I've said before, therefore I agree with what they say to some extent.

Wendy's right, and again, goes along with what I've said before. In fact it's hilarious, "keep your mouth shut." Or what? Can't people agree to disagree, instead of using the "mine is better" habit that hinders thinking?

We should be use to the Franke saga. It happens every year. It's entertaining none-the-less.

Hope for a good hockey season. The Frankes have put together a good-looking roster so far, they have a knack for that. People can be fans and be critical of the product too, something that the Franke harps need to get used to (yes, I know, in the same breath!!). If we weren't are were unable to because we had to "keep our mouths shut", couldn't we be labeled anything other than a "democracy"?

The schedule will be what it is when it is ready and not before. Even than there will be several dates that will need to be changed. I am sure teams want it ASAP so they can print pocket schedules and sell advertising ect.ect. Since none of us know who to blame it really don't make much sense to get upset about it.

Reiter: We had this convo over the winter, then Mac said how hurt he was that anyone would think he was like that, then we got several lectures about how sensitive hockey players are and that it hurts their feelings and families so much when people post things like that about them...

Blah, blah, blah... lol!

I wouldn't doubt what you've written though. It'll be an interesting game I'm sure :)
