There will be an announcement tomorrow.

He's been working all night teaching and playing at The Plex and has a huge smile on his face.

It would be a step in the wrong direction for his career if he stayed.

And why is that?

Ok, "not an ihl fan". It is strictly his decision. What are you his parents now? He would have more going for him if he stayed with the FW organization than he would going to an echl team. It may not be hyped up with "announced affiliates" or the developmental stamp of approval, the Komets dont need that glamour to put a player into the AHL. Um, Syro, Curodeau?? Is it this hard? Once you look past the common failures of the IHL or any league and improve upon the oppurtunities FW K's have to offer, you will never grow out of your self induced coma.

I think that if he plays well here, he will get plenty of looks in the AHL. Who knows, maybe he will have a 2-way agreement anyway.

How did playing in the ECHL workout for Curadeau and OC? My thoughts, not very well. Does that make either of those players any less of hockey players? NO...

It is politics no matter how you look at it, and if Schrock is a good hockey player here, he has just the same shot as he does in Kalamazoo or Toledo.

Bottomline fellas.

Whats funny is Curadeau spent more time in the AHL when he was with the Komets then with the Kwings.

I agree totally. Guys like Curdy, Schrock, OC, etc.....found by the Komets, and get played by the political NHL system that looks more at how the team scout brought you into the system more than what type of player you are now.

OC and Curdy go to K-Zoo, what good did that do either of them? Players that are at or below their talent level will move up faster in the NHL system just for the simple fact that the NHL team drafted them, the NHL team scout "found" them, and no one wants to admit that they might have made a mistake in rating the player in the system, or outside te system.

It is politics.

Schock will be at a NHL camp that is for sure! Possibly the LA Kings. Several guys will be going to NHL camps. We go through this every year.

Well, we can hope that he makes it that far. One can't be too sure looking at it from the point of the NHL robbing the cradle every year in the draft. Doesn't mean he, or anyone else should settle or give up.

What time does his 1 hour WANE-TV show "The Decision" begin? Also, where are the commerical proceeds going?

Look, I like Schrocky as much, if not more than the next guy.. But let's not get carried away. The NHL?

It's this kind of idol worship that sets people up to cry when a guy like Colin Chaulk leaves.

They cried... they rioted...they burned his jerseys in front of King Gyro, they lit the lake on fire.... oh wait....that was Cleveland...

shrock will get a nhl look. the kid has great potential and a great work ethic. he has grit and a heavy wrist shot. his size may be questionable and although he is fast, needs to work on his skating. dont be surprised to see this kid get a real shot at the higher level

Canuck-That is the way my brain was working. Robbie was here several times last season watching him. I have no first hand knowledge however.

There was another fort wayne born player that was offered a contract back in the chl days and he refused to play here. I wonder why? I know why. His initials are D.P.

A Hint. His father played for the komets and D.P. played 4 or 5 years with the New York Rangers. He flat out refused to play here after the Rangers did not resign him. Anybody wanna guess?

Dale Puriton--No one including the Komets could afford him. It had nothing to do with Fort Wayne or any other minor league city.

Not an ihl fan, this has already been answered for you I believe. BTW, what is your source on this? And why would he have considered going to an AA team anyway, he's coaching now?

BTW, Dale was born in Fort Wayne but he didn't grow up here. It was determined at an early age that between him and Terry he was the better player and had a better shot at a career as a player so he moved to Canada and grew up with his father where it was thought he would develop better in the Canadian system. Terry OTOH still lives here as well as their mother.

Steve
Thu, 07/15/2010 - 7:05pm

Sorry, I'm not 100% sure about their mother, it's been a few years since I've seen and talked to her. Last talked to Terry about a month or so ago.
