And before everyone gets all bent out of shape, the Komets have delayed the start of playoff series in the past to make sure they start the series on the more lucrative weekend dates...

It is a business.

Sure they have, but I don't think they have delayed it for this long. The way I look at it, game 1 should be high intensity because of the down time involved.

Home ice should mean something but 3 weekend dates for RC and only 1 for FW bothers me. I claim conflict of interest, I want to be there for two games LOL. Tough to make the Wednesday.

Should have won more in the regular season.

By the time the finals get here both teams are going to look like ZZ Top

Just a hypothetical question: If each home team were to delay the start of the next series like this, when would the playoffs be over?

Assuming there is a Friday game in Fort Wayne, will both teams have time to get back to Rapid City for a Saturday night game. Seems like it would be cutting it pretty close, considering a possible or probable mechanical problem with one of the buses, or a late departure due to an overtime game, or a major traffic backup, bad weather, etc., etc., etc.

I'm confused by the question JR.

I'm actually kinda surprised the Komets got Wed, Fri games again. The earlier series involving Colorado and Rapid City the games were played on back-to-back nights and days off were for travel only... I assumed this was to reduce travel and lodging expenses as much as possible for all teams involved.

Oh well... it is what it is now and we'll gladly take a weekend game. Are we the only lower seeded team to get a weekend game again? Conspiracy theorists unite!

Looks like the CHL wants everybody to play on the same schedlue and theres teams in the other conference that still play on Sunday. Thats why theres a long time. We just won too soon!

We must remember the meaning of home ice advantage. Rapid City could have had game 1 tonite or may 1st

Lets just hope our Komets can do to Rapid City what they did to bloomy!! Sweep them!!! Then they would not have to worry about traveling for a game 5!! Lets hope!!! GO KOMETS!!!

Orange, the meaning of home ice is to have more home games. Not pick when your games are going to be played. I understand this is just minor league hockey but this wouldnt fly in any other pro sport. The Yankees dont get to delay the start of a series to pick a better day.

The CHL decides the schedule not the teams, so no hating on the individual teams. Remember, it's the CHL that's a little (or a lot) whack.

I had heard that the Cup Championship will be completed no later than May 25th. Sheesh, we wouldn't want to rush anything along now would we?

I think you're kidding yourself if your don't think the higher seeded teams wanted to be absolutely certain they got as many weekend home dates as possible. The only thing the CHL probably did is say that no 2nd round series could start until all the 1st round series were decided, making any series starting this weekend practically impossible, and that was probably only done to make sure one conference didn't get too far ahead of the other.
