Anybody got any ideas why fans are not going to the games in Kalamazoo? They are averaging 2,066 for the playoffs after averaging 3,275 in the regular season. There were 1,696 fans on a night when they clinched to go to the finals. Obviously a weeknight and a school night, but are there any other reaons

When it is 80 and sunny outside, people don't want to sit indoors after doing it all winter. A few years back it got pretty warm here before the Komets' regular season was over and for those games that week, attendance was really lowered. The same thing happened with the Mad Ants. Their attendance went from 50 down to 20 people.
Dropping 1000 for the playoffs in attendance is no surprise since corproate seats are almost never carried over into the playoffs and really under 2000 on a Tuesday night is no big one either, to me personally...
From a different angle, I know Rush fans have been upset that the Rush wasnt promoting the team during the playoffs and their attendance numbers reflected that in the series against the K's... I havent talked to any K-zoo fans lately; but will ask them to see what they think...
Maybe teams are taking it for granted that interest will be elevated during the playoffs, therefore there is no need to budget money for playoff advertising???
We have a bunch people going up for Game 4!
The easiest way to find the answer is to call up there and talk to Paul Pickard. It might make for some special information on the state of the ECHL and their outlook for the future. Could be a great article for you.
It appears as if Scott Mullen and Howard Cornfield are going to explore the posssibiliy of saving the Mallards. I sure hope they are successful and I think you couldn't find two better people to try save the franchise.
i was going up to watch but the dates didn't work out with my schedule.
i would blame it on Pickard
Cornfield doesn't have enough money left to lose.
How crazy would it be if Kalamazoo won the title -- and lost money during the playoffs? It's an insane business right now.
A weeknight and the Red Wings playing seem to be the two biggest factors.
We will have four Komet fans there for Friday nights game 4!
We'll be up there too Friday
