The shame of Elian

I'm sure my liberal friends will be glad to say when they stopped taking the right seriously. Perhaps it was the Schiavo case or maybe just the idea of Rush Limbaugh on the radio. Maybe it was stem cells or global warming. I can pinpoint exactly when I thought the left had very little I wanted to listen to anymore -- the Elian Gonzalez case. Let every illegal immigrant in this country have a pass, but chase out this kid whose mother died getting him here. Glad to see it's worked out so well?

Eight years after a headline making international custody fight which ended with his return to his father in Cuba, Elian Gonzalez has joined Cuba's Young Communist Union.

In an article in Cuba's communist youth newspaper, Juventud Rebelde, the 14-year old Gonzalez said he would never let ex-President Fidel Castro and his brother Raul Castro down. He joined more than 18-thousand others who joined the group on Saturday.

Yeah, right, he "joined," and he'll never "let the Castros down." What a great blow for family values, getting that child back to his loving father.

Impeachment over a blowjob is when I understood that the right wing was a joke not to be taken seriously.
