Sid Chin

They held the funeral today for Sidnette Ann "Sid'' Chin today, and I wanted to say a few words about her if I could.

I didn't know her personally, but judging by the children she raised, she was a first-class person, and what better way is there to be judged? Her five sons are all excellent people who have represented her extremely well. The best thing about the Chin boys? They all married way over their heads, just like their father.

First off, she was married to Roy who is a wonderful man, an ornery, fun man, but a wonderful man. If you don't know Roy, you've never been to McMillen Park Ice Arena. He was always the guy wearing the striped shirt, blowing the whistle and telling jokes. He has the perfect temperament to be an official. He was even telling jokes this week.

Along with the Frankes and the Ullyots, the Chins could be considered Fort Wayne hockey royalty, but they have never acted like it. They were and are real people, which makes me admire them and her even more. I didn't know her, but I know enough of her to know that she was a great lady.

Blake, you should have been at the dinner that was held after the funeral. It was very festive with a DJ and karaoke. It was just want she wanted and everyone had a great time.

Blake,

I knew Sid personally, and every word you said hits it on the head. I only knew her for about a month or so, but she was a wonderful person to talk to. She talked very highly of her family. I was very honored to have met her for the short time that I did.
