Tailing the Komets

Sims is steamed

Komets coach Al Sims feels your frustration because he may be twice as frustrated as you are, and he cut loose a little after the game.

When asked about changing up the lines, Sims said. "We have to. We're scoring one goal at home every night. Obviously things have to change. Either personnel have to change or line combinations, whatever it may be, but we can't keep going along like this."

When asked about his team's defense, Sim said. "I don't know what to say. We just lost to the worst team in the league. To say anything positive about it isn't going to happen."

Then he finished with, "I can't score for the guys. We have empty nets, we have 2-on-1s where we can't make the pass. Shafranov, our best passer can't make a pass across the ice to someone. Or we can't hit the empty net. I don't know what it is. Or they get a goal that shouldn't go in. It's just one thing after another. We just find ways to lose at home. Guy Dupuis takes a penalty, and we talked about it before the third period again about penalties. Eventually it's going to come back to bite us, and tonight we couldn't kill off that one more power play. Why you'd even get involved with a guy, a 1:30 left in the game, why even go near a guy on a play where we're getting the puck, absolutely innocent, and give the ref an opportunity to make that call is beyond me. It's just inexcusable, especially for a veteran player."

It could be a really long bus ride to Port Huron tomorrow.

well it is time to get rid of either Holladay, bouly, mironovic because they all play the same soft...With Pence coming back i just don't see how he is going to help because he is the same as those players. We have been lacking a physical component since the lost of beckett that the k's have not address and it is killing them at this point. Or goalies have to look through a maze to find the puck or the get bump and ran over. That would never happen last year. Up front same problem to many of the same player not enough grit at all..Why was Legualt a scratch tonight and Gravell? I want to know what Franke is doing to make a change..6-5-2 in our building of late nobody fear us in our own barn because we don't hit anybody.

Legault is out with a shoulder injury...he won't play this weekend...Thats what Sims said before the game last night.

Gravelle was just a healthy scratch

Why do you guys seem to think the problem is on defense? It's the forwards who primarily are not getting the job done. The goals against and shots against have come down dramatically. What this team needs is somebody with some hands who can crash the net, with hands being the key ingredient.

After tonight's 4-2 loss to Port Huron I think it will be a really long ride to Muskegon.

I think the forwards are having difficulty getting the rebounds after missing on quality scoring chances. The defense like you said Blake, is improving and I still cannot totally blame the goaltending.....but I saw Thomas, Shafranov and Chaulk miss out on what should have been high percentage shots on Friday.

I am not one to spread the "doom and gloom" message that some people have and I really believe that things will get better, but I just hope that it does not take making wholesale roster changes.

I always hated that when the old Fort Wayne Fury used to have a totally different lineup everytime I would attend a game. I know, different sport, but I really don't think that solves a problem....it's just a short term fix in my opinion.

Come on guys, my wife is getting really frustrated and mad during/after the games when we lose! :(

Hopefully everyone will get healthy soon and then go on a roll starting in January!

Blake,

I don't believe the problem is on defense. I believe the problem lies in the forwards somewhere. They aren't scoring, and thats puts huge pressure on the the goalie and the defense. Makes them look bad when really the offense is to blame...if tha makes any sense

Nobody crashes the net, and the guys who can do it half the time you wonder why they even take their sticks out there. It's probably just a slump and once they break out they'll go nuts.

We hope so Blake...this team makes us all scratch our heads. Shouldn't they be better than their record and their position in the standings?

Do you have any stats on how many times this team has blown a lead of at least 2 goals this season? I bet it is incredible.

Crashing the net on both ends of the ice would be nice. I saw 10 or 11 times tonight where rebounds came right back to wide-open IceHawks tonight and Boucher had to come up big to save the puck. He has gotten the short-end of the stick IMO. Some goals have been on the easy side, but there have been nights where he has had to be unbelieveable to just keep the game close, instead of us winning.

There is alot of blame to go around right now with this team. I think alot of it has to do with making your own breaks by hustle and grit...and also staying away from the dumb penalty. Some guys who know better have killed us this year with the un-timely penalty.

Why get rid of Holladay? He has been doing great.
And maybe if the lines werent changing so often, they could get a feel for each other and do better

No, the defensive mistakes aren't the only problem here. If it was just the defense, then we'd have high scoring games for both sides. As it is, on most nights, we're usually struggling to score. So yes, plenty of blame to go around. This is a team effort, and they need to come together as a team to win.
