Tailing the Komets

Skalde leaves Bloomington

You can read it here.

I've also heard Evansville does have players under contract but has not announced them yet. Supposedly they are close to naming a coach, too.

Mightbite, why the sarcasm? Everybody has a right to their opinion and I can understand some of the thought process that instigated your latest Franke jab, " Now Franke has to find 2 coaches, Bloomy & Evansville."

I don't mean to sound "holier than thou" as I haven't agreed with everything the Franke's do, but when is enough, enough?

Sure, they tried to save the IHL and probably propped up some other teams to do it. So did Kinney in Port Huron. For that matter, so did Ken Ullyot back in the 60's. It has happened before.

Not everything that happens in the world is the fault of the Frankes. Not the pollution in Russia, the oil spill in the gulf, the economy, nor even the fact that Bloomington and Evansville need to name coaches.

I would submit that we should let these franchises and their fans worry about such things.

It probably isn't fair to single you out on this. I guess I'm a little frutrated by the Franke bashing that takes place all the time over everything imaginable. After reading your comment I had to unload a little.

I, personally, am sick and tired about the "fhl", moving to the AHL, people wanting out of the IHL and then complaining about being in the CHL, and criticizing their business skills.

When they make a decision that is adverse to the success of the franchise, then by all means, we need to make our voices heard. Still, even then, it should be done in a professional manner. That would be using facts to back up our statements and not resorting to personal attacks. ( Not saying you did or have, Mightbite, but others have).

One more thing to remember, everyone. They are the Owners, the Custodians of the franchise. They are in tune with the community and their fans. In very many ways, that is why they are successful.

I propose we let the rest of the CHL worry about what the Komets are doing instead of us worrying about what the rest of the CHL is doing.

Here endeth my rant....

Mightbite, like I said. I know it wasn't fair to single you out. I had hoped I made that clear in my post as I realized if I didn't specifically say so, then everyone's natural reaction would be to think that.

Just as you mentioned, "if I didn't say it first, someone would of." I just wanted to square the "score", so to speak, when it comes to the inevitable blaming game against the Franke's.

I also believed they played a big part in Evansville coming in a year early. ( I think, don't know for sure, but think that is why three "home" games for Evansville are being played at the Coliseum. I think the receipts will be going their way and that helps defray their costs this year.)

Alan & Mightbite -- I have no firsthand or inside information just speculation and opinion. The owner in Evansville was prepared to buy the Flint Generals until a meeting with the Kinney's. That failed on both of there parts or there would be a team in Flint this season. I think he wants the inside track on the "New" building in Evansville. He was promised an IHL franchise the year before if you remember. The building was built after consultations with the IHL and (I just hate to say this name) Pauly Picard on behalf of the IHL. He has built into his budget a huge sum of money in which he plans on loosing this year. I wish him all the luck in the world. I want him to succeed. I still think the Kinney family will be back possibly in Howell, MI. I know most of this is very old information and has been hashed over several times. I am just refreshing your minds.

Skalde was named as Head Coach for the Cyclones.

Press release states he is the sixth coach in franchise history and was the first Cyclone player to be directly called up to the NHL from the ECHL in 1992-1993 season when he appeared in four games for Cincinnatti. (1G, 2A = 3pts)
