Tailing the Komets

Smith of POM

The Central Hockey League announced today that Fort Wayne forward Brett Smith has been named the Sher-Wood Central Hockey League Player of the Month for November/2011.  Smith will receive a Sher-Wood/CHL logoed watch courtesy of Sher-Wood and the Central Hockey League to recognize his accomplishment.

Smith has been a key contributor this year for the Komets as he is off to one of the best starts in his eight year career.  The Guelph, Ontario native leads the team with twenty-two points, (nine goals and thirteen assists) with twenty of those points coming in the month of November.  Smith notched a point in every game for the Komets during the month helping his team to an 8-4-0 record.

The captain of last season's CHL Champion Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs, Smith is currently sitting with the league's longest point streak (13 games) and for the season is fifth in the CHL with 22 points (9-13=22).  Smith joined Fort Wayne during the off-season after playing the past four seasons with the Mudbugs where he played in 214 games scoring 199 points.

That was a very positive article, Blake.

The thing I liked the best was the mutual appreciation from Smith and Chaumont. Barring injury, these guys are and will be such a big part of the offense. Nice to hear that Podshendyalov is fitting in nicely, too.

Geez, instead of searching for the right words, I'll make it simple.

Everyone getting along, everyone happy to play in Fort Wayne makes for a successful team, both on and off the ice.
