Tailing the Komets

So what do you think?

Was the decision fair?

After everything I heard over the last week, I was expecting Brad to get a lot more than that.

Without hearing more details than just what Joe Fan saw it's hard to say but it's probably fair given the information that the CHL has access to

Probably true. I've heard from some of the Komets tonight that they are glad it wasn't worse for Mac.

I think that Brad needs to be very thankful, I was expecting a much longer suspension....like 40 games, possibly the entire season. I have to say I'm glad that the CHL came down hard, yet fair to everyone involved.

The joint letter and the press release were well done, and I thought was a very nice and classy gesture.

That puts him out 10 weeks. So he shouldn't be back before VanDrunen. What's the chances of the Eagles releasing him when the suspension is over?

Thats about what I was expecting... I figured Joly would get a little more for leaving the bench.

No arrests, no lifelong suspension. Hopefully this will end Gillis' grandstanding.

Its about what I was thinking... I thought there was a total Loss of control by everyone involved and it looks like the CHL agreed. I know it wont happen; but I would really like to know if the referee got reprimanded also???

So, does Colorado have to "eat" the roster spot for Mac like we did last year?

I would question whether there was any sort of formal or informal communication to all of the owners and coaches of the teams in the league. Something that says. "Hey, we got through this mess one time, but if anything like this ever happens again the consequences will be dire for everyone involved. Line brawls and player assaults are not going to be tolerated." There is certainly nothing in the suspensions meted out to make this point. As noted, the suspensions are all less than what a lot of us suspected. It would be very interesting to know what the dollar amounts of the fines doled out to the the two teams actually were.

I'm wondering the same thing Ron, especially since the season hasn't started yet. I'm betting they do since there was also a roster deadline Thursday although I don't know how much that would affect things. It's also a unionized league so that could also work to keep Brad from being cut if he was already signed, at least until he returns.

I'm also wondering if we will ever see the video. I tend to doubt it, the league feels it's time to move on and it would be up to them or the team (depending on league rules) to release it and I doubt they feel that would be in anyone's best interest.

As far as private video taken, Mac's part happened at a face off, it's not like the puck was dropped and they skated to center ice shedding gloves and helmets along the way to square off. If that had happened someone probably would have gotten it but I'm betting it happened to fast for anyone to catch it. Even some of the fans who were there watching the game didn't see the initial punch/punches based on their comments.

I guess we have to put our faith in the league and their decisions on how to handle it, besides what choice do we have? I like Mac, I'm glad it didn't go any worse for him and for the sake of his family I hope the team is able to find work for him in the community so they don't suffer the financial burden of his suspension.

Great job by the teams. The suspension... eh I guess it wasn't going to be worse. Hopefully Mac will take the time and refocus on his career. I am sure he isn't a bad guy. But he needs to learn some self control.

22 games is way too much.
Macmillan is being punished for throwing one punch. And a clean punch at that, he was challenged by VanDrunen and did what any enforcer does, threw a single punch.

No not fair. It's too much in my opinion. One punch was thrown after Macmillan was challenged by vandrunen. No malicious beating, no cheap shots. One straight up punch.
