Tailing the Komets

So who impressed you?

So I want to know who jumped up and surprised you last night for the Komets? I really thought Brian Boulay looked good before he got conked, and I was impressed with Jay Holladay, too. Varone is scary quick and Mironovic was laying the lumber a few times.

I really thought the coliseum made a number of nice changes to the scoreboard so the ads weren't so overwhelming, and shutting the ads off during the pre-game ceremonies was a total class act. It was much more enjoyable to see than during the exhibition games.

I also thought Klosowski did a very nice job on a game that could have very easily have gotten out of control. Man, was there a lot of talking going on last night, or what? It was a yap-fest, especially early, but I thought he did a good job.

I talked to Jake Pence before the game and he's going to start wearing a quarterback-style flak jacket when he returns so that should take care of any more potential rib problems. Brandon Warner is also hopeful to play next week. Talk about a trial by fire, but that's two nights in a row when the Komets played with five D, and the kids showed up very well.

I was impressed by whatever Al Sims said to his players betweeen the 2nd. & 3rd. periods. They came out fired up and were determined to blow them away. Varone is lighting quick. Osman might have the quickest release we have seen in a long time. Anybody who puts it on his stick and bang it off towards the net. The move P.C. Drouin put on Flints goaltender took the poor rookie right out of his red pants. I was impressed by who poorly Flint was coached. They are in for a long season.

Varone is impressing me big time. I think he needs a set spot on one of the top 3 lines. The thing is I dont know where he would fit.
