Tailing the Komets

Some dismal numbers

The Komets were shut out for the second game in a row and have not scored a goal in their last 129 minutes, 17 seconds. The franchise record for going scoreless is 168 minutes, 22 seconds set last season set last February when they were shut out in back-to-back games by Missouri.

The Komets have been shut out in back-to-back games six times in their history but they've never been shut out in three straight games. Last year the Komets tied a Fort Wayne pro hockey record by being shut out six times in a season. This year they've already been shut out four times in 29 games.

Blake,
I just saw that we traded for John Jarram from Elmira for future considerations. Do you know anything about this guy? I think he is a tweener and a defenseman. Does this pretty much mean that Kean is not coming back?

No, he's a rookie defenseman. They are still worried about having enough rookies because there are currently only four on the team. If someone gets hurt, that means they have to skate short-handed. I don't know any more about Jarram than you do, but I'm trying to find out more. As for Kean, I don't think anyone knows anything yet. He's still having headaches. If he could come back, that could be huge because you're not going to find a defenseman of that quality and capability anywhere else the rest of the season.

I just checked his stats on hockeydb.com and it shows him having played 70 games in a couple of leagues before this year. Am I wrong about this? If thats true then he isn't a vet.

just got back from k-zoo,the komets played as hard as they could, they had nothing left at the end,it looked like the wings had about 15 skaters on the ice, they had 2-3 guys on the puck all night.Dustin Virag looked 20 lbs. lighter about 6" taller and 15 mph. faster in red, and he is a fourth line ctr./ winger. he must have won 15 face-offs. with this all said in am proud of all the komets they never never quit.k-zoo is the best team in the uhl.

Hey I got a quick question for ya. Who did Steve Fletcher fight in his last game for us? I believe it was against Kalamazoo.

Craig Bilick. Funny story. During the game, Bilick is talking to one of the Komets, I wanna say it was Ortmeyer, but I'm not positive. Bilick is asking Ortmeyer is Fletchie would like to go since this was his night. Fletch sends his teammate back and says no, I promised my wife I wouldn't fight. So later on Bilick sends a message back, C'mon, let's go. So Fletchie sends the message, OK, but you gotta slash me or something so I can tell my wife I had no choice. I had to stand up for myself. So right off the faceoff, Bilick slashes Fletchie and away they go. Ya gotta love Bilick for that.

now theres a guy who should be in the orange and black rugged defenseman who can also score. havent heard about him since 2003. maybe we can get him out of retirement!!

Not winning, need goal scorers!!!

Where in the world are we going to find some players who can actually put the puck into the net? Smith was our only guy pretty much. It's going to take a huge trade to get some quality scoring here. I'm going to puke if we bring in another guy who has been cut from a worse team than us. We need something more. Guinn, Galbraith, and Jorde for DA Beauregard. I'd make that trade in a heartbeat. Go ahead you Jorde lovers, hop on. He stinks. Pretty sad state when we have to put up Rob Guinn for the All-Star Team voting. Can we add anymore horrible defensemen? Maybe Andy Townsend is available or Igor Malikyn?

This thing is getting frustrating. Just when it looks like things are turning around, we lose our only goal scorer. Even if we make the playoffs this year, does anyone think we can compete with the likes of Muskegon, K-Zoo, or Rockford? They just seem like they are in a different league than us this year. We better start looking for quality guys to bring into next years camp now so we don't go into next year like we did this year.
