Tailing the Komets

Some ideas

A couple of things I've been thinking about for a long time are discussed here.

So what do you think?

Yep, Guess your done for the year. lol.

I like a Defensman of the Week type award. I am a fan of the dmen and third line forwards, so you're talking right up my alley. I think that it wouldn't be that difficult. With some of the dmen in this league it should be a no-brainer.

A pre-game show
Have the orange collar card be your ticket so you would have only one card to get in and get your OCC points so you would not have to worry if the wife remembered the tickets.

dont know what thats got to do with it but blake youre exactly correct! dmen need an award too and i t wouldnt take much of anything to set it up. do the weekly and monthly winners of the other awards get a trophy or cash or anything? if they do then all the commish has to do is strongarm someone, i mean ask someone to sponsor it and its a go!!

I fully support this and why wouldn't the UHL. Something else for the players to put on their resume for the NHL / AHL to see.

The shootout idea is good as well.

Can't wait for next season to see what else you can come up with.

p.s. next time could you black out a couple of teeth or something, we want our hockey reporters to look really mean.

Why is the ORANGE collar card WHITE?
As far as the award, maybe it comes down again to money? If a company was willing to pony up the money to sponsor a D-man of the week (or month) award I am sure the UHL would not hesitate to have one.
As far as shootouts, yes home team should have a choice and I hope they keep it at 5 skaters instead of going the route of the NHL.

These are your big ideas? Keep working on it kid or just stick to your day job.

I am with you, Blake, but you need to add a 5-minute 4-on-4 sudden death OT before the dreaded shootout.

Greg

No 4 on 4, just go stright to the shoout out. Why keep people longer than necessary. If you go 4 on 4 then cut the shoot out down to three aside.

Go to 4on4 and open the beer stand back up! Works for me!

Greg

Well in that case let's play til someone scores or the beer runs out;-)

Actully, hsiri, I said they were small ideas. I don't write the headlines.

You don't write the headlines huh? The title is called "I've" got big ideas. Did I a miss something? So you don't have that much power at work? Is that why you try to run this blog, to have some control and power? It seems like you have stolen some of your ideas from the NHL. Please be more original.

Someone got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. I thought the idea for the d-man is a good one Blake.

so hsiritydhe where are you from...flint, quad city, missouri? why do u get on here to bash blake?

JungleMonkey
Wed, 10/18/2006 - 12:23pm

Because hsiri must not have much power at work. His wife probably makes him dust his minature spoon collection against his will every week, and trying to "big time" Blake makes him feel better about himself... Just a guess.

Blake

Guys, it's not a big deal. He's allowed his opinion as long as he doesn't call me Cardboard Cutout or Pulcrapski.

Good ideas Cardboard Reporter and Blog King. LOL

Only thing I disagree with in your article...is that a fine player once said:

"Yes, BLAKE is a SUPER fan, just kidding I am sure he loves the the game of hockey just like the rest of us."....Colin Chaulk

Super Fan...stop denying you don't pull for the Komets. It is ok Mr. Sebring...we won't hold it against you. It is kind of like Mascots don't talk...I have heard plenty of them say things. LOL

I hope that when the Komet's market the Chicago Hounds game in November and for the New Years Eve Game...they refer to our former fearless leader as "Nothing At All." Kind of catchy if you ask me...because even though we are led to believe that we should worship the ground he walks on because he is some sort of coaching legend here (even though he was always given the best talent)....you know the Komet's are going to market the crap out of those games as the return of "The Former Coach." Because no matter what spin you want to put on it...him coming back will sell more tickets than him coaching our team...Just a thought...go ahead, take a number and pile on me at will. LOL

Hit, I put that line in the story specifically for you, knowing you'd get the biggest kick out of it. It was my shout out to Hit!

So do we take that as a no comment or are you finally going to admit it? You could go to FA (Fanaholics Anonymous) meetings and get yourself on the right track you know. "HI, I'm Blake....I am a Super Fan of the Komets".....LOL

Hoss
Wed, 10/18/2006 - 4:29pm

I say the 4 on 4 is the best! Why take out peices of the game just to finish? Next your say college football is thinking about taking away kickoffs when they go into OT????

Greg, if you don't want the teams to play an overtime since it will keep you longer than you want to be there, maybe we can talk the UHL into having a "Coin Flip" night and the game will start with the Captins comming out to center ice and calling heads or tails. The winner of the flip wins the game! Then we all go home happy and early...

Blake
Wed, 10/18/2006 - 4:31pm

Hoss, you realize they already have done away with OT kickoffs, right?

Greg
Wed, 10/18/2006 - 4:40pm

Good one Blake,

And the UHL hasn't had four on four at least since the Komets have been in the league so there's nothing to take out. That would be an "addition".
