Some non-roster changes

Fort Wayne Komets'  general manager David Franke and head coach Al Sims announced Tuesday changes in the leadership positions within the team's internal structure.

Veteran defenseman Guy Dupuis will relinquish his captain designation and P.C. Drouin will no longer be an alternate captain.  Both changes will take effect immediately.  "We are trying to change the culture in the Komet locker rooms and we want Guy and P.C. to concentrate on their games and not have to worry about things off of the ice," stated Franke.

"This is not any indication that the two players have done anything wrong," said Sims.  "We just want to change things up in the locker room."

Don't know yet what they are going to do with the C or A. I've got some appointments this afternoon and will have to ask later.

Wow!!! So much for the supposed roster changes... Drouin, Dupuis, Curadeau, Warner, Patrasso should be released now... Leo too...

I would have done this sooner. I hope there is more coming although in this league it seems very little can be done overnight.

Give Bouch the C and let him thump them into shape.

That is an interesting move. Even more interesting will be the choices for the new "C" and "A." There is no one fix; too much is going wrong. There is talent from the top down and the players must really be depressed concerning the direction the team is going. As viewed from the end of the rink, the K's are not funneling towards the front of the net in the offensive zone. They looked the same way back in the bad UHL years. On a lot of rushes they are taking angles away from the front and getting poor shots away at poor angles.

I am all for fans' opinions - good and bad - on the blogs. I think the team needs a lot of support in the rink, however. Why not get in your seat early Saturday and give the team a loud standing ovation all through introductions as a way of saying "Don't give up and we think you can turn this around."

That worked well for Luongo didn't it?

Sure did. That's why Luongo's not captain anymore.

I'm curious if they just go with three players wearing the "A", instead of appointing a new captain.

Well that's a small change. Hope we can find a vocal Capt, and asst capt. A good leader in the locker room is needed, and should leadby example. I don't know who could fill those shoes.

Looks like Leo is going to start out with PC's A but it will move around the locker room for now

So this sounds like to me that they've tried to trade some higher priced players who arent doing anything and dont have any takers.... The next step is internal changes to try and jumpstart things... My question is, can you jumpstart a car with another dead car?

If they cant be traded, then suck it up and dump the dead weight and bring in some kids who will at least give everything on the ice and give the fans something to be proud of.... I can take losing if there's effort involved...

Taking away a letter or two doesn't do anything to make room on the roster or in the salary cap for what everyone seems to think we need.

Good start to moves.
Not ready to give up on Patrasso yet.
