Tailing the Komets

Some notes

Derek Patrosso might be the CHL Player of the Week on Monday. He had six points over the three games and was plus-6. He has 13 points and is a remarkable plus-10 over his last 10 games and he and Tab Lardner each scored 14 points in 13 games to lead the team during January.

In January, the Komets were 8-3-2. Kevin Reiter was 4-2-0 with a 2.10 gaa and .924 save percentage; Nick Boucher was 4-1-2 with a 2.66 gaa and .907 save percentage. Lardner and Patrosso had 14 points, Chaulk 13, P.C. Drouin 12 and Guy Dupuis 10.

Since Colin Chaulk and Dustin Molle joined the lineup, the Komets are 7-3-2.

Since starting 5-15-1, the Komets have gone 11-3-4.

Over the last six games, the line of Colin Chaulk, Derek Patrosso and Tab Lardner has accounted for seven goals and 23 points.

From listening to Chase tonight, it sounds like the only area left to work on is getting the puck out of thier own zone... Except for the signing of Molle and Ratchuk being sent down, defense is the only area they havent done much tweeking to. Or with the solid goaltending duo of Reiter and Boucher, do they need to?

As I recall, Blake said that good defensemen are about as hard to find mid-season as hen's teeth. Landing a good puck-moving defensemen would probably be more like catching a leprechaun that could lead you to two pots of gold. But hey, they've got Warner if he gets healthy, right? :D

Our defense has never been a problem this year it's been the offense. They are not giving up more than 2 goals in most games. So no, defense is not a problem. Chaulk and Lardner add a great deal of help being great defensive forwards.

Not sure what defense you've been watching kometswin; but defense has been a problem all season long... They have a huge problem of getting the puck out of thier zone and if you listened this weekend, although they won all three games, there was much of the same problem. Goaltending has been great and kept us in many games that we shouldnt have been in; but getting out of thier own zone needs to be figured out. If they make the playoffs, this weakness will be exploited if it hasnt been fixed.

All in all, great weekend for the K's and hopefully they can bring thier winning ways home!
