Sean O'Connor is likely to sign in the ECHL with Wheeling.
Justin Hodgman is going to sign with Rockford of the AHL.
Rick Varone is still deciding.
There's another BIG surprise coming next week. I'm not giving any hints other than that, so don't ask.
Also, I don't do this very often, but I think those of you who do not buy the paper or read anything other than Komets stories might get a lot out of reading this story, My Daddy Played Wildcat, Too. This is one very special little boy who has inspired me.

I don't think the surprise would be Woods. Blake's already talked about that. Of course, he never said it was a player signing. Your guess is as good as mine.

Just for the sake of conversation and, please, not to be confused with anything negative (....I shudder at the thought of that happening.) Blake describes the surprise next week as being "BIG." I wonder if he is hinting at a signing of a player who is "big" in stature or "big" in skill? I'm thinking that he might be referring to Legault. I know that would be a popular signing for most Komet fans but, (here is where the negative comes in so all those who will be disturbed by it please close your eyes now), I'm thinking that with Stayzer, Mac and Woods we might be getting a little heavy on that type of player. As of today the Komets have five forwards who I think would score 20 goals next season. ( Chaulk, Druin, Thomas, Hukalo, and Shafronov). They need at least two more and with the departure of Curradeau, Varone, O'Conner, and Hodgman there are a lot of goals that need to be made up for. I'm not putting Legault down but he would make four forwards that are pretty much the same style of player. I think four is one too many. Ok. I'm ready for the onslaught.
Would that really be a surprise if Legault signed though? We were told quite a while ago that the Komets had put together an offer for him. Nothing too shocking there if he decided to sign the offer. I agree on having a lot of players who are out there basically to throw some weight around though. Wasn't Muskegon seen as trying to win with heavy hitters last year though, and we finessed past them? I'd like to see a solid scorer added to the list.
Alan - I think the answer to your question is Yes.
I like how everybody has big announcements yet nothing ever comes of it. Why is that? Where is the schedule for this season? Oh wait, it's still being processed. Give me a break. I hate people that have a big announcement but can't say anything about it. THe only reason they say they have a big announcement is so that they can say "I told you I knew it before you did".....
jonndfi: In all honesty, I'm pretty sure Blake knows about "it" 98% of the time (AT LEAST) before we do. I don't really think it's whether or not he knows about stuff, but more so when he's able to tell us about that stuff. I don't really think he's just saying there's a BIG announcement just in-case something happens in the future so he can say "i told you so." In fact, I can't say I've ever seen him say "i told you so," on here. I could be wrong, but I think the others on here would probably agree with me.

Not wanting to insult anyone- How about STUPID. You can fix dumb you can't fix stupid. It has been proven that over the summer (every summer I have been around) that we get piece meal info about hockey. The reason is to keep you attuned to the game, the league or your team. There is no real reason to give it all to you at one time. As far as Blake teasing us, He has never disappointed us. I can wait a week. When ever that week is (that's for Wendy). The schedule has to be right when it's released. 7 teams with 7 buildings that must share dates with as many as three or four different venues. Than it goes back and forth for a few days between each and every team. While we are in a hurry we just have to understand it takes time. I can wait. I think my age has something to do with that statement.
Now I am confused, which one is stupid. Got the flu today about 1pm, been sitting in the sun tanning since then and I am starting to feel a lot better.

me78, I was just thinking the same exact same thing. You know Icy went #1 in the mascot draft. Yes, I actually read that in a goofball story they had on the Komets website once. Now I have brain cells imprinted with that information forever.
