Tailing the Komets

Soup might be on

I'm sure many fans thought it was going to be a much more exciting "name'' than Ed Campbell, but think about it for a minute. How often do AHL-caliber players come to this level, and better yet, would be delighted to come here? And what's the biggest problem with this team right now? A down in the dumps attitude, which is completely understandable. Eddie the prankster would be perfect in the room to help fix that, plus he would give the Ks potentially the best defense in the league, which automatically helps Frenchie, right? That potentially solves three problems with one player. How often do you get a chance to do that? He should thrill the fans because he can flat out play, and he should thrill the players because none of them would have to move on to get him.

As for the 8th vet, check around the league. Several teams are doing it, and with all the injuries the Komets have had this year, I think it's a smart move.

If he signs, and I'd say he's leaning that way, that gives the Komets time to sit back and be a little choosy when looking at what else is out there in terms of a scoring forward, plus it might allow Kean or maybe Bozoian to move up on a wing so they've had a ton more flexibility than they have now.

That's pretty tough to beat when you might be able to get all of that from one player. It may not be a "sexy'' pick-up for the fans, but it might be better.

Hey, perhaps he's not a well known name around here(yet), but he sounds just like the kinda guy we desperately need. If he can play defense well and raise the spirits of this team by adding a little humor to the locker room, then I'm all for it. Bring him on!

Would be a decent pickup if it comes to fruition from an experience standpoint.

A miracle worker named Campbell from the AHL? Yeah, I think we could definitely use him. LOL Here's hoping he's a definite!
