When a goalkeeper has lost his helmet and/or face mask and his team has possession of the puck, the play shall be stopped immediately to allow the goalkeeper the opportunity to regain his helmet and/or face mask. When the opposing team has possession of the puck, play shall only be stopped if there is no immediate and impending scoring opportunity. This stoppage of play must be made by the Referee. When play is stopped because the goalkeeper has lost his helmet and/or face mask, the ensuing face-off shall take place at one of the defending team's end zone face-off spots.
When a goalkeeper deliberately removes his helmet and/or face mask in order to secure a stoppage of play, the Referee shall stop play as outlined above and in this case assess the goalkeeper a minor penalty for delaying the game. If the goalkeeper deliberately removes his helmet and/or face mask when the opposing team is on a breakaway, the Referee shall award a penalty shot to the non-offending team, which shot shall be taken by the player last in possession of the puck. If the goalkeeper deliberately removes his helmet and/or face mask during the course of a penalty shot or shootout attempt, the Referee shall award a goal to the non-offending team.

Thank you Blake, That is just what happened. It just took them to long to get it right, but they did.
I might be confused on what people are saying that happened in this incident....but what I saw was Boucher deliberately take off his mask, throw it aside, and then demand the referee to blow the whistle, as then he deliberately removed the net from the post and then got the whistle and then he went over to scream at the ref.
What are we debating here?
To me, Boucher could have gotten at least 2 penalties for this and maybe even a gamer.
Seriously, I was lost as to why he didn't come back into the game in the second, I was talking to my buddy and missed Haun coming into the game and didn't realize it until 5 minutes into the 2nd.
Some one fill me in as to what occurred and why Boucher didn't get penalties or a penalty shot awarded to the PT.
I thought someone knocked his helmet off. I didnt think he took it off himself.
I was in 231.....I saw it, and everyone in the section said the samething. I am not arguing it or anything, I am just reporting what I saw. It was clear to me and everyone around us. He took his helmet off, seconds after he was hit in the head with the puck.
I think he is lucky he didn't get tons of penalties.
What did others see?
From where I was sitting it looked like the puck hit him in the mask. Someone then shot it to the corner and that's when his mask came off and the net flew off the mornings.
Who should the K's fans be angry at tonight??? Big Snake for wussing out, or the Frankes for hyping this game up advertising the game as "Robin Big Snake's Return with the Fury Jacks and Muskegon?" Who gets the biggest slice of this blame for tonights fiasco?

I think I sat in front of one of the BigSnake fans last night....section 216....wow. Funny guy, though, and he succeeded in angering the stick in the mud woman sitting in front of me who had zero sense of humor. Go Komets!!
Gotta admit that I did not see what went on with Boucher until the part where he was in the ref's face, but my son said his mask was knocked off by another player who "banged into him"....wonder if anyone has video footage of that? Tim? Otto?
Hit Somebody, here's what I saw, and I was in 230.....Boucher got hit HARD, and I'm sure none of you guys have ever worn a goalie mask, but when you get hit hard, all the straps come off and the goalies usually flip it off their head because the protective qualities are diminshed when its not strapped to the head anymore. Alot of the hard hits I see a goalie take on TV goes this way; seen it numerous times. It's not at all uncommon to see the mask get "shrugged" off the head after a hard hit. It's obvious by your constant posts that you like Haun and seem to dislike Boucher, so I think that clouds how you reported this. Continuing on what I saw, after he tipped his mask off (he never even used his hands to do so-I think that proves my point) he was screaming at the ref to call the play. What the heck is wrong with that? Do you want to go on the ice as a golaie without a mask? Then after the no call, he tossed the net off. I woulda done the same and I think most of us would. Are you seriously making a big deal outta this? Why do Komet fans always complain and make a big deal outta NOTHING. Hit, you are always criticizing. Well, if you don't like the team or league, then stop coming! And if you read the paper, it was reported that he pulled his groin.......still smell conspiracy?

Nick took his own mask off after getting hit up high with the shot. No one from Bloomington was near him. I saw the replay.

Upon consultation with an all knowing oracle, I have surmised that the true helmet removing culprit was a Col. Mustard (wearing #27) slapshot, using a candlestick, from just beyond the grassy knoll... Cased closed, we can all move along to tonight's game against Musky... Cheers!

OK Here's how the whole helmet thing happened, from the mouth of Nick Boucher himself. Greg was absolutely right. Nick got hit directly in the mask which loosed the straps. When he tried to turn his head, the helmet actually moved in front of his vision. He then shrugged it off and tried to let the ref know. The ignorant ref ignored him. Nick said that he then took the net off to get his attention even more. Carroll was going to call a delay. The linesman came over to Nick and said, "He should have blown the whistle immediately." Nick then told the linesman to tell the ref that. He did. Carroll came over to Nick, apoligized for his mistake, and didn't make the delay call. Pure and simple people. Just ask the man what happened, don't just think you're the expert till you know the truth.
I heard the same thing about big snake from a member of the komets team. they said he quit the team. what a team player!!
BLB we didnt tape the game friday night we did Sat. with the Lumerjerks. I think Otto was up there with a hand held camera but do not know if he got the mask thing. Anywho we got two points against the big bad Jerks. WTG KOMETS!!
Blake I think you could clarify "took his own mask off" better. No hands were used so I can hardly call shaking a loose mask off your head (without using your hards) "taking" anything off. It's like shaking your head hard to take a baseball cap off.......
Let's change subjects. That was two games ago. The bottom line is the referee got it right. He didn't compound it by making two bad calls to prove a point (which he could have). Now lets beat Dayton for 3 game sweep week-end. All in favor say so.

I don't think they are being grumpy at all. Everyone has their own perception of things, which I why I make sure to go check the replay when I can. Everyone has selective memory and remembers mostly the good things. It's why lawyers make millions. NOW. QUIT. BUGGING. ME!!!!!
