From David Franke:
``We raised our offer some, but the main thing I think is that he started thinking if he really wanted to go to Europe. For one thing, he has a sister who is going to have a baby, and he wants to go home over Christmas and see her and the baby. Another thing is I don't know how many more years he's going to play, but he wanted to play for Pat again. Those are the main reasons.''
Regarding keeping eight veterans and the thought that Kelly Miller might be on the bubble:
``I don't think that at all. We'll find room for eight veterans. Kelly Miller does a lot for this club and we'll just take it to training camp and see what happens. I don't have a problem starting the season with eight veterans, and I don't think this spells the end of Kelly Miller at all. There are certain things he does, playing aggressively, good speed, good in the shootout, that we'll need. We'll just go with eight veterans for a while and let it sort itself out.''
Are they done looking for players?
``I think we're done right now, but that doesn't mean that we couldn't start campa nd get somebody in here. We have 29 players now, but as it always does, once training camp starts, people start getting cut in other leagues. We'll keep our eyes open.''
When do they expect to see the defenseman from Hershey? Toward the end of training camp or in the first week of the season.

The best news of the day is they aren't getting rid of Miller! I'm glad the owners/coach feel the same way as some of the fans about Miller and his skills. Great news!!!!!!!
Relax Blake...don't ask the Frankes if they are looking for more players. Remember your lecture last night. I think you said this:
"Every year since coming to the UHL, the Komets have found somebody who came in during training camp or right after from the ECHL. If nothing else happens, that will happen again. They are still getting and making calls. Relax. The best things come to those who wait."
I asked you the same question basically last night. Glad to see that David Franke gave you an answer and not a lecture. LOL
I am only kidding so don't blow your top at me. Thanks for the info Blakes...and Scoops...be quiet!!!!
Glad to see they worked this out...now once and for all....DROP THE PUCK!!!!!!
Hit, I asked that question specifically for you! I knew you'd jump all over me if I didn't! LOL. I got your back.
You have to be impressed. The Komets held their stand on Larocque and Ruid and got both of them. They stuck to the gameplan all summer and got exactly who they wanted.
Now watch six guys get injured in camp.
Geez Blake....thanks for Jinx! I can't believe you went there!
C'mon, I can't believe no one has mentioned that they open on Friday the 13th!
Plus, if you mention it early, it can't happen because you'll be expecting it. It's the double reverse jinx.
Is that like double secret probation?
see my blog on that other fellas place.
What does Komet Warrior think of all of this? ;-)
I like having 8 veterans and I totally agree with this quote from Bingham...
"Besides, to think that everybody can compete at an elite level every single night, I think that
Uh, Chuckitt, don't you think it's a little rude to promote another blog, especially one I'm supposed to be competitive with?
my question is... if we know that Frenchy is not going to start a game; could you call in a emergncy goalie to be the back up let frenchy sit and then have the 7 forwards/defencemen vets skate and have 7 total.
Blake, is practice at the Coliseum going to be open to the public this year. If not can I have one of your press passes please.
I think that's a great question which may come into play sometime, Drop. Joe, practices are still closed, but it is a discussion point. David Franke was going to try to talk to Randy Brown about it.
blake i was just tired and didnt want to type twice! my bad! there not really any competion with the other thing cause its like a ghost town over there with late news. oops, i figured it out, he is komet warrior!!!
I think Chuckitt is on to something there...Justin Cohn=Komet Warrior....MAN...I never saw it until now. LOL
So, who all is going to the opener in Rockford?
I can't make Rockford, but I will be at the Bloomington game on the 14th.
If Dave Franke is talking to Randy Brown, about opening practices to the public, they are probably working out the ticket/price structure and what time to start charging for parking.
I don't understand the "liability" thing. I am not a insurance expert, put it is county owned property should be covered at all times, not just during events. I think the liability thing is just a excuse.
I am sorry but I don't believe regular season practices should be open to the public. That is time for the team and the players to be able to work and speak freely without having to worry about fans making noise and other distractions. There is no purpose or place for fans to be at practice.
AGAIN I SAY TO TONY:
MR.I KNOW IT ALL:There is no purpose or place for fans to be at practice.PLEASE GIVE US ALL A BREAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Jim,
I hope you are having a most pleasant day.
I am fine with it either way as I have plenty of things to do in my life than to attend a Komets practice. Hang out by the lockerroom after a game if you want you vintage K's jersey signed Jim.
Having the training camps open was "alright" as I used to go to one session each season to check out some of the new faces. Sometimes you even seen a scrap. Other than that....I'd rather be sleeping.
Scoops I think training camp is fine. But really at most levels of pro sports practices are closed to the public. Aside from things like language that might not be so "family friendly", does anyone think the Komets want other teams to be able to send scouts to watch what they are working on? I understand fans wanting to be able to be involved and feel as close to a team as possible but there are some things that are and should remain off limits and practice is one of them. That is all the Komets need is a bunch of female teenagers squeeling at this years "hot player" while coach Bingham is trying to run drills.
How true is that!!!! And since I have no opinion of my own...I'll agree with ya.
You mean that you won't be there to throw bean-bags into the crowd...you guys could sign autographs after your workout...I mean, gosh....don't the scoops guys need a training camp too? I am sure the teeny-boppers would love to get an up close look at you guys. I can picture it now, bullseyes and targets taped to seats, railings, and walls all throughout the MC. I bet that is the reason why there is a hold-up on announcing the practices being open to the public. The liability insurance probably sky-rockets with those steam throwing pea shooters called the Scoops Guys there. Scoops!!!!!! LOL
Actually we'll be at the rink Monday for training camp. Sorry Jim....it too is closed to the public.
I am still gunning for you Sebring.....
HEY TONY (YOU STILL KNOW IT ALL)
I am having a most pleasant day.
THANK YOU
scoop guys need to learn how to throw the scoops to the ends behind the goals not just the sides..people DO sit back there too
Jim as long as you don't forget I know it all I will always have a pleasant day :-)
TONY,you won't let us forget that you know it all.
