Tailing the Komets

Strange game tonight

Komets have dominated the shots and chances, but it's 3-3 after a really strange second period. Some folks in the press box said they heard a whistle before one of the goals went in. Did anyone else?

I can't really repeat what I think about this game...

Yes there was a whistle because Gravelle was going to kill Gens as was Mac because of the hit he put on Varone. Clearly a dead play. It was a tough loss for the guys tonight but you can't give up a two goal lead as well as give Muskegon powerplays. Was O'Conner's hold a penalty yes, but Langdon had let a lot of worst go in the 3rd period to make that call right there was just plain stupid. Wed.'s game should be a very interesting tilt I thought Ramsey was going to come over the boards after Mac to protect his little sissy player Gens.

These are the games that I hate losing, when the ref decides the outcome of the game is a bit hard to take. Someone needs to tell Gens to watch out for the rest of the season, I don't think that one is over yet. Is it me or does Curedeau just look blah out there...How many bad plays or passes can one person have.?? Is he trying to hard? Might be....
Go Get em' on Wednesday..Go Komets

I felt like if he was going to call the tripping he did on Collins against Varone, which was totally ridiculous, he had to call the one against O'Connor. Al said he didn't have any problem with the call against O'Connor because the Komets put themselves in the position to have a penalty called in the first place. I'll buy that because it would have led to an odd-man rush.

The whole last two periods, they played right into Muskegon's hands when they blew the chance to bury them. They had a team that had lost three in a row, playing without three regulars, on the road, third-in-three-nights, down 2-0 and they lost the game. No excuses.

Thats exactly what ticks me off Blake...2-0 lead and they find a way to blow it....

I have a problem with the call on O'Connor..was it a penalty, yes, but so was the hook on Shaf behind the net and the hook on Thomas or Curadeau behind the net AND NOTHING WAS CALLED....thats why I have a problem with it...

definite whistle was called ref didnt even know the puck at the other end of the ice went in linesman called it but why didnt al protest??? clearly whistle blew before the shot, unless the whistle came from the crowd. ref needs to clarify or explain

Al said he didn't see the goal because he was watching the altercation so he couldn't really protest. He also said he didn't hear a whistle. What I thought was interesting was that Muskegon players didn't celebrate.

I agree Mark, except it was a change of possession leading to an odd-man rush and potential scoring chance. He absolutely had to call that one. The emphasis this year is on the neutral zone infractions more than in the offensive zone, too. That's just the way it is. The league emphasis is to be tighter in the neutral zone than in the other zones.

Its still stupid...I wouldn't make that call at that time of the game....

I think the K's should ask the league to review the hit Gens put on Varone. That should have been a major for elbowing and a blow to the head. Down right cheap.

yeah i was suprised Gens didn't get a 5 min major for that.....

Me, too. I don't think anyone of the officials saw it. It's not on the gametape, either. All you see is Varone going down.

That was the first time I ever had a ref come over to the score's table and say "I'll have to make something up" ref. the Verone call. No one saw it. After the game they felt it should have been a major penalty. The clock was off with the whistle on the third goal. Laplante had let up. Very plan to see. It should not have been a goal. We still shouldn't have lost the game even with those calls.

I have thought that muskegon has done a good job at getting us in to the penalty box all season, seems like they bait us all the time and we seem to bite, thought rammer was going to come off the bench that would have been a mistake on the old mans part!

I didn't see the goal either. I was busy watching the altercation; the ref's arm went up. Next thing I know, I turn to my right and see the goal light on and Musky celebrating. I didn't hear a whistle, but who knows.

I'm kinda with everyone else, goal or not, we did NOT play well in the second or third period--the guys looked like a completely different team from the first period in which we out-and-out dominated. Our PK was, to borrow from Dicky V, scintillating.

Hockey gods just have it out for us apparently, but to only have one regulation loss in the last 10 games, I still think qualifies as a 'tear'. Go get 'em Wednesday.

We lost the intensity we had. Regardless of the intensity, the game was very sloppy early. I saw the hit, and it was probably a bit dirty, but after the touch, the play should have been dead if there was a penalty correct??? Even if he convines with the linesman, after the infraction occurs, the play should be dead, so no goal. My buddies, who don't frequent games asked when did they score. I had no explaination for them!
