This is why hits to the head should carry an automatic suspension of 10 games with an automatic game. Intent should not be a factor in the discussion. Christian should have been suspended period.

The problem in todays game is lack of respect. Eliminate the instigator rule and I think a lot less players will be willing to play with reckless abandon. The leagues (including NHL) have got to step up and enforce head shots with very stiff suspensions.

Jon "nasty" Mirasty has 1 more game vs #72 so its not over yet :)

I dont know if Mirasty is the kind of guy to go after Christian. If Christian had the fortitude to man up and go with him, Mirasty would beat the tar out of him. I just don't think Nasty is the kind of guy to jump a non-fighter, and we all know Jeff Christian will turtle like a coward.

I say Line Brawl!!!!!

You want to send a message....

Send out Mirasty as the Center, Schrock at one forward, Leo at the other Forward.....Cescon as one D-Man and Molle as the other D-man.

You go out on the first shift, take care of business, and make sure that Mr. Kromm and Evansville know that in the future, the Komets don't take kindly to cheapshots to Super Fan's MVP.

If Frankie is so valuable to this team....I think he is....why didn't any of his teammates have the Balls to stand-up for him in the next 3 or 4 games we played them???

The Komets are soft.

Al Sims is Softer.

I'm so tired of hearing the crying for mirasty. Great fighter but not a regular shift player. What's komets record since aquiring him? I love a great hockey fight but winning is more important.

What's the record since Warner has been back?

What's the record since Podalarussianname has been back?

What's the record since DeAngelis has been out?

Is this just a speed bump after going 120% for a couple months?

So many questions with so few answer's to go around....

What their record on the 3rd Friday of the month when PC is wearing orange socks and Icy wears tighty whities?

The whole "their record since, with, without, during, because".... crap is getting old.

Their record since of the start of the season stinks no matter whos in the lineup and it isn't any better the last two weeks. Thats all that really counts. I'd like to blame one guy too.. Too bad its not that easy.

If warner not back we only score one goal over the weekend :) the reality is look back when we were rolling ..the line up changes (including warner) have changed the chemistry of the team. we simply are not scoring goals again. The stats speak for themselves. Maybe francis and musslewhite were more important than we thought. But hey.. We got the toughest guy in the league

Komets are 6-6 with Mirasty in the line-up.....

To me, that means nothing. He gets an average of about 3 shifts a game.

I too am tired of the what's the record with this guy playing garbage.

They stink as a team, they shine as a team.

You could go back and look at records of when Legualt played.

Rechlicz.

Warner in and out of the line-up.

Leo both in and out.

We could do this forever.

Doesn't change the fact that this team stinks this year and they are going to either be the 7th or 8th seed and most likely have to play a team they stink against.

The team let Evansville take out our best statistcal D-Man and no one did anything to react to it and that is a character problem with this team straight up the roster and at Big Al's doorstep.

This team was on a roll until that incident, and this team went in the tank since then.

Now we are a short time from the playoffs, and it might be too late to get on track.

The talk in Minor Leage Hockey right now is that the CHL is in deep trouble, anywhere from 3-8 teams may jump ship..this summer...it may cause travel to be 10x worse, and it might cause others to jump ship.

Good sources are saying that plans are in the works behind the scenes, Possibly ECHL, Possibly a new league, possibly a combining of ECHL/CHL.

We'll have to wait and see.

Can we find one player to blame on this one too Brian?

I blame the idiot bloggers who havent been ra ra positive enough for the guys to win games....

Didn't someone repeatedly tell me how ignorant I was for calling out one player on this team, but now he is doing the same thing with another player? He just doesn't get it. :) Have a good night, all. I'm off to skate with the team.

Mon, 03/14/2011 - 8:02pm

I'm not blaming anybody hit.. I'm just tired of hearing mirasty mirasty mirasty. The reality is he is not a regular shift player and is a role player. I for one think someone,if not christian should have had to answer the bell for hit on frankie . Much like I thought the same last year after hit on shaf.I just think the team should have been left alone at the time we aquired mirasty.. He's a fan favorite but unfortunately he hasn't provided much help in the win column.

brian
Mon, 03/14/2011 - 8:16pm

Geez.. Wish I could be just like you RK. Your my hero.. I'm not slamming mirasty at all. In fact I think he is awesome at his role, but his role at this point in the season is taking up a spot on the team in which we need to score goals . This is going to be one of lowest scoring teams in k's history but all the talk on this blog is about a guy that has scored what? 3 goals in 7 yrs. C'mon coach Sims put him on the top line, power play, and penalty kill. Make all the hockey genius bloggers happy :)

Mon, 03/14/2011 - 8:17pm

Mirasty hasnt lost them any games either....

Guys like Mirasty, Cescon, Schrock, etc... bring an element to the game that 99.9% of casual fans are looking for and thats the hockey fight. They dont care if its a face off, center ice fight or one that happens in the heat of the moment. They just want to see one or two in the games they come to. If you promote a guy like Mirasty and then only give him a few shifts and new fans dont get what they came for then whats the likelyhood of those fans returning for another game anytime soon?

Hit Somebody!!!
Mon, 03/14/2011 - 8:18pm

I agree with Brian actually here....Good Post.

Can't argue much with what you say.

OC in the line-up....or Mirasty?

I take OC.

JR1
Mon, 03/14/2011 - 8:27pm

At this point in the season, you start resting some of the vets, leave Mirasty in the lineup and try to go into the playoffs somewhat healthy (if thats possible)...

Let Danko and O'Connor come in and give Guy and Drouin a rest... Start resting the older guys who the K's have no other choice than to lean heavily on and be productive in the playoffs for the K's to even think of moving past the first round...

Mirasty probably wont see much time, if any, in the playoffs, so you leave him in the lineup now to "answer" any cheap shots till the end of the season. Actually let him do his job and if a couple instigator penalties have to be killed off, so be it.

Leo Thomas is the only guy whose on the + side of the +/- in the last 10 games.

brian
Mon, 03/14/2011 - 8:45pm

Understand your post JR and your thinking but don't agree with it. Winning comes from confidence and we are not a confident bunch right now.confidence comes from playing. Our best stretch of the year came with lots of games . Sure you get a little tired but if you ask the vets, they don't want to sit this time of year. I'm not anti-mirasty but I just think we need to get in playoff mode starting this week. How many fighting majors in the playoffs last 3 seasons

Blake Sebring
Mon, 03/14/2011 - 8:54pm

This team is so fragile confidence-wise, I don't think you CAN rest anybody. You must try to get on some kind of a hot streak or they'll get blown out in three or four games in the playoffs.

brian
Mon, 03/14/2011 - 9:16pm

So...blake any word on playoff format? I think this could be huge. I just can't see 2-2-1 format due to travel

Blake Sebring
Mon, 03/14/2011 - 9:18pm

They could still play any of five teams.

RunningKomet
Mon, 03/14/2011 - 10:37pm

I agree with the Blake about the confidence. This team could win five in a row, but as soon as that next loss hits, they are done for the forseeable future. I dont know if that is age, youth, being satisfied with the last three years, or what. Wish I did though. It does seem, though, that those who do not have the rings (Lardner, Cescon, Molle, etc.) have still looked hungrier than a lot of the others who do, even through the slumps. Maybe sleeping through the first 2/3 of the season is finally going to bite the Komets and next year it will be time to bring in a new roster of guys who dont partake in the old tradition.

For the sake of DeAngelis's health and future, the Komets should just shut him down. There is no need to jeopardize his future to be a part of this disaster. Even if a miracle occured, he would need time to get back in shape.

Since the team is willing to break apart all three lines I would offer this suggestion for the powerplay. Put Mirasty in front and chain him there. He has no fear, he would cause problems for the goaltender, and what would be the downside? The Komets stink on the powerplay now. They really couldn't do worse with him there, could they?
