Tailing the Komets

Talked to Rob Nolan

He's working through his agent to figure out what the best offers are. He said it's a tough market in general for goalies, and hehopes to decide in the next week.

I asked about the fact that the Komets already had Nick Boucher under contract, and he said, ``From what I've heard and seen of Nick Boucher, he's a really good guy and a really good teammate. Those are the guys you want to surround yourself with. I'd really be happy to get to know him better.''

I have no idea which way he is leaning because I'm not sure he knows right now.

Well then i think we would have the 2 good Goalies in the IHL from last year because they both wore really good guys and goalies.Nick Boucher is good because he lead us in 3 good turner cups.
Rob Nolan is a good goalie because last year he led the Geanarals to a Turner Cup and they also where barley about to make it to a turner cup because the fishned 4th.

I really hope he signs with the Komets. Nolan and Boucher would be a dynamite tandem that would give the Komets an opportunity to win every night!

I am sure the K's have made a competitive offer, but I am sure he is looking for the chance to be the #1 man.

"Franke" will find a way around the salary cap to get what they need :)

Blake, can you explain exactly how the salary cap is supposed to function in this league. What monies that are being paid to players can the teams legitimately shield from the cap? Even if the teams are legally allowed to pay about $11K a week in salaries, what are they really spending on players by the time that all of the "extras", such as housing allowances, are factored in?

Since this is all being negotiated with the PHPA, I cannot.

I can show you what last year's agreement looked like, but there's nothing guaranteeing it will be the same.

Thanks for the link Blake, lots of interesting stuff there. Already found out the the ECHL & PHPA auction off the team Captains' game worn jerseys as a fund raiser for the PHPA

Looking at the Per Diem allowance for the CHL (new contract being negotiated), ECHL (contract good), and AHL (new contract being negotiated), it seems if you make it to the AHL you get to eat almost twice as much then if you're in the CHL or ECHL, or eat in restaurants that cost twice as much.

That alone would motivate me to work hard and move up.. :-)

I would take a Jaromir Legault as long as he comes in, plays big, and works his tail off. If he scores some goals, icing on the cake. Otherwise, I think he can play a solid shift on the 3rd line, cause havok for the other team with big hits, and policing the ice. Get in front of the net and be big.

I liked Jaromir when he was here before, I think Big Al gave up on him too soon.

Let's hope he comes in motivated wanting to play some hockey.

I think Legault knows where he is at this point in his career... If he's going to make a team, its gonna be as a hell raiser. Thats all he needs to focus on is hitting people into submission, both along the boards and with his fists. The skills arent there for anything else realistically. If he comes in like a jackhammer, he could be valuable...if not......

Someone show Jaromir Legault how to put the foil on his knuckles too.

IHL site is gone.

It directs you to the CHL.

No IHL logos on the CHL site to be found.

The Komet site still boasts the IHL and its Logos.

Hey Superfan, is this the end of the IHL??? Or are they just shutting her down to save some money???

Any word from the IHL on this?

Cohn reported Amy Stump has been officially terminated from the IHL office.

Brad Jones?

Dennis Hextall?

I think the Moniker has taken over.

I am not speaking for anyone but me. I think the Komets can use the IHL logo when referring to the "Turner Cup Champions" Just a thought. They did earn it and I think they should use it.

DeAngelis and Warner?

I don't know why on earth they'd bring back Legault........hasn't proven to be able to play a regular shift yet.

Will Legault have to fake injuries again to explain why he sits? I'm not opposed to having him back if we're going to let him fight and he's going to be useful as part of the roster, but why have him here to sit in the stands half the time?

Good question, JM. If there are so many guys out there looking for jobs, we ought to be able to find one who can play a regular shift as well as add toughness.

How about 2D6 men? LOL. Geekette humor. Seriously though, I thought we were already stocked up on D-men at this point.

Well, except DeAngelis and Warner. You must mean them. Keep forgetting they aren't signed yet. Duh.

DeAngelis and Rodger
Phillips and Cescon
Guy and Danko

That leaves Cianfrini, Pawlowski, Oleksy, and Warner to fight for one spot on the roster. Will the CHL rookie rule add some excitement to this situation?

Wed, 07/28/2010 - 4:18pm

I bet Pawlowski ends up skating as a forward part-time, unless he comes in and takes someone's spot.

I have no problem with Legault coming in as long as they define his role with this team and he is allowed to fill that role as they define it.

Last time he was here, we heard all summer long how much better of a hockey player he was and how scouts were impressed with him and so on and so forth, then he starts out with a Hat Trick, and then disappeared pretty much.

I agree with others, if you want him to play Brad MacMillans role from last season, let him give it a shot and don't screw with him. Play him.

The reason why you can't bring in a guy that plays a regular shift and fights......

You can't afford that guy looking at this roster all ready.

Andy Sherman
Wed, 07/28/2010 - 7:42pm

The last time Legault was here he was SUPPOSED to be fighting, but didn't, hence why he was frequently out of the lineup in lieu of MacMillan (in addition to his injuries). He actually never had a hat trick, rather a 2 goal night against the Zoo early in the season. I also never heard the Komets saying how good a player he was, rather the press and fans stating it......I was never impressed by his "Skill", or rather lack thereof.

Wed, 07/28/2010 - 7:47pm

I'm gonna be real popular stating this.....

but Legault's press that offseason about how improved he was and being invited to a NHL camp, and so on......well, it had to come from somewhere before it was turned into press and fans talking.

And they wanted Legault to be more than an Enforcer that year, they wanted him on a regular shift contributing more than fighting.....that was the plan. It was the way he was going to move up in the Minors according to everything the scouts and Komets told us.
