Opening Arguments

There he goes again

Joe Biden, fearless prognosticator:

"Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy. . . . I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate. And he's gonna need help," Biden said, though he added that anyone who tests Obama will discover he has "a spine of steel."

It's understandable that the McCain campaign and Republicans for jumping all over this -- it's good political fodder. But the obvious point is that either candidate will be tested by our enemies -- hell, our friends, too -- to see what he's made of. Every new president always is. What matters is whether the new president is up to the task.

But it was a stupid thing to say, and what's new about that? Sarah Palin is vilified for not knowing enough, but so much of what Biden seems to know just isn't so. He's forever misstating facts, whether through ignorance or intentional deception, it is not always easy to know. Why isn't anybody worrying about this clown being a heartbeat away from the presidency?

Nobody is worried about what "Greasy Joe" says for a couple of reasons.

One is, most people never hear his ridiculous mis-statements thanks to ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, CNN, NYTimes, LAtimes, Chicago Trib, well, you get the idea. The average bear isn't a blogger or a cable news junkie so when they get home from work and watch the 6 o'clock news or the 11 o'clock news or read their daily paper, Democrats simply get a pass.

The 2nd is, even when any of the above mentioned "media outlets" covers a gaffe, it's pretty much dismissed as "Oh that's just Joe!"
