I talked with Michael Franke today before running out to a tennis match, and he said expansion talks are continuing, and there's a lot going on in the industry right now.
"We feel good that we'll have some positive news to announce over the next couple of weeks," he said. "All the things we've been working on are progressing well."
Franke said he could not comment on Quad City or Dayton because he could not speak specifically about any city, other than saying, "They are both looking at our league right now."
He said the league will likely know for sure about expansion for next season by June 12, which also happens to be the week the league opens its annual meetings June 15-17.
As for finding a replacement for Paul Pickard as league president/commissioner, Franke said the league received four or five calls from interested parties today.
"I think we'll have somebody in place by the middle-to-end of July."

Blake........Old Buddy Old Pal. Thanks for making it official. The only thing I may have got out of sink is the replacement for Paul Picard. I could do your job! Except I have one. Besides I don't write books, I read them. Also if it wasn't for spell check I would be in a world of DoDo.
That would be deep doo-doo, Dude! LOL.
I studied journalism AND I write books! But this isn't a competition, right Blake? When it comes to the Komets, we're all on the same team. :)
I keep waiting for someone on the IHL Web site to slip up and post the schedule too soon. That would answer a bunch of questions.
That can't happen yet because they haven't had the schedule meeting. They are waiting on the expansion teams.
Sorry Blake.... Doo-Doo is not in spell check. Trust me I do not want your job. You are just to good at it.
So there ARE expansion teams! Lol. Speaking of which, I was looking forward to that, but then I heard about this "expansion draft" bit. I read about that with the WHL, but in that case, it was the expansion teams that were gutted. What's this about our players being poached if there are new teams entering the league?
