Tailing the Komets

This time Komets win 2-1

This time the Fort Wayne Komets stayed out of the penalty box and put themselves into the win column.

A night after giving up 12 power-play chances in a 2-1 overtime loss at Arizona, the Komets came back to allow only seven extra-man advantages and beat the Sundogs 2-1 on Saturday night.

``It was a great effort, and we got three of four points on the road,'' Komets coach Al Sims said. ``I don't think we'll see many teams come in here and do that.''

The Komets got a pair of power-play goals in nine chances, the first from Frankie DeAngelis and the second Derek Petrosso. Kaleigh Schrock and P.C. Drouin assisted on each goal.

Nick Boucher was outstanding in the Fort Wayne nets, out-dueling Arizona's Doug Groenestege as each faced 31 shots.

``Our guys played hard and weren't going to be denied,'' Sims said. ``It was  good game. Our power play came through for us, and Bouch played tremendous. Both goalies played well.''

Before the game, Sims mixed up his top two lines, putting Leo Thomas between Brandon Narauto and Petrosso, and moving Mathieu Curadeau between P.C. Drouin and Sean O'Connor. The Komets have scored three goals in their first three games.

This was also a strange game because two penalty shots were called for by referee Jon McIsaac. Both shooters missed, one for each team.

So Patrosso scored the goal. If your going to have a fit over what I post, at least get your facts strait.

I know it's not popular to point out any fault that Guy has, and in all honesty I admire Guy... but he can't keep putting his team in penalty kill situations. It kills the offense and wears out the forwards.

The logic of "put on some skates and play" is getting pretty played out. Unless I take Al's job, I can't have an opinion?

We just need some home games, and bloggers will calm down.

You girls are killing me with all the hairpulling and eyepoking.

Gheesh.

At least no one is kicking JM in the boys like they were over at FYC.

the komets are the only team being watched closely by the refs because we are a three peat champion. i really think the chl should be looking into this. i went to the first game at home this year and man there was a lot of calls going against us. kinda hard to win the game when you are playing 5 on 8.

That would be because the Komets were committing all of the penalties and they had even more that weren't called that should have been. Try taking off your orange glasses when watching a game, it'll do wonders.

I would guess dz is counting the on ice officials. I wondered how long it would take for people to start saying the CHL refs were just out to get the K's.
