Great Story as always Blake.
Let me feed the speculation about suspensions. How about Robin Big Snake and MacMillan each get 11 games. All games against each other. I have no inside information only speculation. Sends a message!

I think it could hinge on the referee's report as to how many above and beyond the 10 games for leaving the box each will get since both "roughed" up linesman... Just throwing numbers out there; but maybe 10-15 for Big Snake for leaving the box and "roughing" up the linesman, and 15-20 for Mac for leaving the box, fighting, and "roughing" up the linesman...(also, this is Mac's second run in with Jones this season with the other being his after the final horn fight w/Bray in Port Huron...that could factor in...)

Of course, this could be Jone's best opportunity to send the league a message by throwing the book at both for this type of behavior since its very early into the season...

As I said in the other post, this is where the league decides if it wants to be a league for up and coming talent like Syro, Hodgeman etc or a USA clone league of the LNAHL. Anything less than 15-20 games sends a message that this type of activity is ok in this league. I understand why Mac did what he did. But at the same time the whole incident reminded me way too much of Slap Shot and that is not the kind of hockey I am interested in watching. The league was better without Robin Big Snake and without 3 fights with no purpose on opening night and as long as that type of player and that type of activity goes on, young talent will find other leagues to play in.

2 minute minor for a semi-long post.

85% of young talent will go to the ECHL irregardless. At some point we have to accept the IHL for what it is.

Blake, your story uses the wording "Macmillan left the box to "jump" Lawmaster..."

Perhaps this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0GJnMJcQ9k will clear it up for you...

MacMillan clearly squared off with Lawmaster after Lawmaster made eye contact with MacMillan. There was no "jumping"... C'mon.. Lawmaster all but challenged him to come out and fight.

You will also see the linesman trip over the skates of Mac and Lawmaster, he wasn't tossed to the ground by MacMillan.

If I didn't know better, I'd think you were trying to add to Mac's suspension.

I'll stand by my wording. He came out of the penalty box with the intention of fighting Lawmaster who was on his way to the penalty box with the linesman. That also doesn't excuse what Lawmaster did previously.

It doesn't matter one way or the other if he pushed, shoved, tripped or whatever happened to the linesmen. He put his hands on him which led to him sprawling and that's simply inexcusable. Same with Big Snake trying to break away by bringing his arms down on the linesman's arms. There's no gray there, only black or white. The league must protect its officials, period. There are no varying degrees. Linesmen are not fair game just because you are reacting to an opponent.

I'm not trying to add anything. I'm trying to look at each action individually. It makes no difference to me what happens. I have to write the story whatever happens, same way as it doesn't matter to me if the Komets win or lose a game. The reporting is the thing. If they win or lose Game 7, I have to put just as much effort into it to document what happened.

That's why I'm "Superfan."

id have to agree with junglemonkey on the wording. lawmaster jumped shafranov, mac fought/beat the crap outta lawmaster.

If I didn't see it, and I read Mac came out of the box to "jump" Lawmaster, it paints a VERY different picture from what actually happened. Just my opinion.

We're all allowed to disagree. If two words are all we're debating out of 30 inches of story, I must have done OK.

If you watch the footage closely you will clearly see that behind the grassy knoll there was a Lumberjack waiting with a tire iron to beat the tar out of an utterly defenseless Shafranov if he should happen to skate by... That guy needs to be suspended too....

An actual Lumberjack? Or that cheap knockoff from the playoff skits last year?

Hmmm, maybe we'll have to bring the video "Lumberjack" out of retirement for a few more montages. I'm getting ideas...

I agree, watch the video, Lawmaster was begging Mac to come out and even rolled up his sleeves before mac actually made his way onto the ice....

The only shame about this incident with Mac is that he didn't get a piece of Big Snake. I just wish that guy would get the beating he deserves.

I have some information that i need to share with Blake...ready for an email Superfan?
