NAIF is getting the blog hits up to pad Superfans bonus, we got 1 more day to get him that trip to Servia International Airport.

Alan

OK guys. I've read this a couple of times now and I feel I have to weigh in.

First, to NAIF. There are quite a few STH who were/are shocked by the fact that ST packages went up while the number of games went down. I am one of them. I happened to run into another STH yesterday and she brought the subject up to me. She was concerned also. I think that is a natural reaction. Problem is, NAIF, that included in this years' package are three games that are considered Evansville home games and also some playoff games. So maybe everything will even out.

However, and I mean this in the most serious way, to call someone dishonest is way out of line. Somewhere in your life you may have heard this phrase, "Let the buyer beware".

In a few hours I am going to the Komet Office and pay off the rest of my package. No one is twisting my arm, I have every right to change my mind, it is MY choice.

YOUR choice is to not attend, call the Franke's dishonest, and at every chance to degrade the IHL and the Komets accomplishments.

The first is your right as a free citizen, the second smacks of libel, and the third shows your ignorance.

To Mike in Toronto: good to see your still reading and contributing to the blog. You have keen insights and information. Question for you, since Chaulk has decided to leave will you all be making any trips to Fort Wayne to see the K's?

Not.... you are VERY incorrect about the economy in Windsor being any better than it is in Fort Wayne.
As an example, GM just closed it's final plant in Windsor. 5 years ago it employed 2800 people.
Windsor and Oshawa Ontario are two of the worst economic markets in all of Canada.
As far as Detroit goes, most people in that area don't even know the Spitfires exist other than they are some team that can be heard on AM 800 CKLW (station carries all the way to Fort Wayne)
You didn't answer my question...
How much are you willing to pay for your tickets?

MR SNUFFLUPUGUS
Fri, 07/30/2010 - 11:38am

BTW Not,
Windsor is the much bigger City?
Windsor population = 216,473
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windsor,_Ontario

Fort Wayne Population = 255,890
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fort_wayne_indiana

Ummmm....?

Snuff - i think he was eluding to the fact that in larger cities things tend to cost more.,, pay rates are higher.. rent is higher. Things just run on a larger scale.. so comparing those 2 cities and those 2 alone is a weak argument.. i hate to say it but i agree with "Not an ihl fan ..." here. on many levels comparing those 2 is irrelevant.

With that said - not an ihl fan.... wow. you are persistent if nothing else. I think we all know full and well where you stand. have made that abundantly clear. again and again and again.

MR SNUFFLUPUGUS
Fri, 07/30/2010 - 12:02pm

Except that according to the most recent stats I can find, (check wiki for the 2 cities, Fort Wayne has almost 40 THOUSAND more people than Windsor?

Dschebig: "...you can not fix stupid." Okay, so you're at an impasse. But calling someone "stupid" smacks of the kind of hate you say you don't understand. Alan's use of the word "ignorance" is more appropriate in this instance. It suggests that there is perhaps something the person doesn't know or is unaware of, not that the person is too "dumb" to understand.

Alan

I just got done paying off my season ticket package and this is what it contains. The girls in the office took their time explaining it and they have always been friendly, kind, and informative.

First, inside the season ticket folder will be tickets for two exhibition games.

Second, 33 Komet home games are included and with them the 3 Evansville "home" games being played at the Coliseum.

So far, 2ex, 33 home games, 3 Evansville games = 38 tickets.

Then in March when season ticket holders must pay for the playoff games they will find the first four playoff games free. That is the first four playoff games are included in the STH package that they had paid for in the fall.

2+33+3+4 = 42.

Hope that helps everyone who had a question.

Fri, 07/30/2010 - 1:31pm

So Wendy are you calling NAIF ignorant?

Just for the record I'm stupid, aint no fixing me.

Wooo whooo 100 plus posts, cookout at superfans with his blog hit bonus.

komets123
Fri, 07/30/2010 - 1:53pm

Snuff - many many times in past people have brought up other arenas and cities to support their claim.. people on both sides of the argument.. just depends where ya look.. u brought up 1 arena.. could go out and find 1 to contradict it... so IMO pointless to use in argument either way.

MR SNUFFLUPUGUS
Fri, 07/30/2010 - 2:05pm

Komets123 I wasn't trying to use Windsor as "the" form of reference, just a single one to show that a fairly equal market both in population, arena size and calibur of play with each having won championships over the last 2/3 seasons is charging higher prices for what some would consider a lower level of hockey.
I know there are OHL/CHL/CanHL/AHL teams charging more and less than the Komets.
But I don't have a platform of reference until we hear what Not feels is a fair price for a Komet ticket.

Fri, 07/30/2010 - 2:26pm

Snuff: once again, you can't compare Windsor with Fort Wayne. Hockey is Canadas #1 sport so they will almost always highly support it. Hockey in the U.S. is unfortunately probably the #3 most popular sport. And there is know way you could possibly know how many people outside of Windsor attend their games unless you stand outside their arena gates and ask each person where they are from. So that statement does not hold water. As for how much would I pay for komet tickets, I feel that $15 is fair for their top ticket price. And I feel they could charge that and still make lots of money and be successful.

Alan, how much did you pay for those season tickets?

Wendy
Fri, 07/30/2010 - 2:54pm

Only in the way that we're all ignorant. Sorry. Don't mean to get on anyone's case. It's just that if I called everyone "stupid" that I couldn't come to terms with, that would be a lot of people. And it wouldn't be true. Then who's to say that I'm not the "stupid" one?

Burgee
Fri, 07/30/2010 - 2:55pm

Cha ching, over 100 posts, blog rules say u must start out cha ching! No where close to #3, wish it was those

MR SNUFFLUPUGUS
Fri, 07/30/2010 - 3:17pm

Not, you keep backtracking...
First you say that Windsor is much bigger. Now you want to put it on outsiders coming to games. What about outsiders going to Komets games? I know of several who travel from that other country known as Ohio to games.

I would suggest to you that other than the fact that Windsor had two high draft picks that drew some outside interest these last two years that junior hockey in Canada is very much geared towards the city the team is in. Suburbs like Tecumseh have their own Junior B team that is very locally supported so hockey fans there would most likely be in their own barn on Friday nights supporting the home team.
$15 huh? Ok...It seems the Komets give you several options at that price and lower. But didn't you also complain about the calibur of hockey at the AA level, calling it A in your opinion?
So...here is the point I was going to get to.... For you this is all about money. Because if it wasn't you wouldn't pay 50 cents for a product that wouldn't entertain you. This has little to nothing to do with the talent on the ice or the entertainment of the product. Would you watch a free TV show if it would bore you let alone spend 3 hours watching it? I would guess not. So please, no more complaining and calling it an A league.
Now... let's get to the money situation.
You said
"I feel that $15 is fair for their top ticket price. And I feel they could charge that and still make lots of money and be successful"

Ok... I can get with your feeling that $15 is fair. That is up to each consumer. But... based on what do you feel they could make "lots" of money charging no more than $15 and while we are at it, what exactly to you is lots of money? What do you feel is a fair profit for the Komets? How much money should they be allowed to pocket after paying all of their expenses?

BTW, little known fact but until 1994 hockey was NOT the national sport of Canada and to this day is only a CO National Sport ;)

Oh, crap! Way to go, Not an IHL fan. Now you've got Snuff talking about Windsor. He'll be here the whole stinking weekend talking about Windor this, Windsor that, Windsor is the greatest! Now we're going to be stuck with Windsor! Couldn't you have picked, I don't know, Cleveland or Buffalo? How how about that armpit of Indiana, Indianapolis? ANYTHING BUT WINDSOR!

Steve

IMO, there is ignorance, stubborn ignorance, and stupid.

Ignorance = doesn't know, uneducated.

Stubborn ignorance = has the opportunity to learn but refuses to.

Stupid = incapable of learning. As said, "can't be fixed".

Ignorance is easily fixed in most cases. Stubborn ignorance is harder to deal with but someone who is stubbornly ignorant will either lean or leave. The key here again is they will either learn or leave. If they don't learn and they don't leave then we are dealing with something else. What's left?

I don't really think Not is stupid although based on his/her form of logic and comments he/she is probably not the sharpest tack in the box. Could also be very young or just plain immature which would also explain some of his attitude.

But to me with the constant insults and cutting down of the owners, players, and by association, the fans of this league in general and the Komets in particular Not shows me something else. He/she craves the attention this behavior gets him/her or he/she has a need to elevate his self esteem by degrading others. Otherwise he/she wouldn't be here participating in a blog about something he/she dislikes so much. He/she would find something more constructive/satisfying to do, unless he/she finds this type of conduct satisfying.

Then there is always stupid, a possibility, as unpleasant as it may seem.

Go Broncs! (Swift Current)

MR SNUFFLUPUGUS
Fri, 07/30/2010 - 5:05pm

Broncos eh? As long as they aren't playing the Rebels I don't mind them ;)
Your post is on point. That is why I keep asking Not the questions I do. I am trying to get him/her past the insults and into a discussion of what the issues really are.
To be honest I would have an issue with the cost of a high end ticket too if there were not a ton of good seats for $10 or less with the newspaper coupon. There is not a bad view in the house (in my opinion) and those upper deck seats actually give a really good view of the action.
If you go back to the Windsor prices as an example (sorry Blake) there is not a bargain to be had.

Fri, 07/30/2010 - 5:42pm

Sorry Blake, I didn't know that snuf had a thing for Windsor. snuf all of your questions are begining to be way off the point. The frankes can make as much profit as they want but they also should put out the best calibur of hockey they can afford. And they have not been doing that. Ever since they bought the naming rights for the old ihl and its trophies the product on the ice has been declining while ticket prices have been rising. Need I say more? I don't want to, but I will. IMO.

Stupid, Ignorant, Moronic, Dumb.......

Who decided to have a thread dedicated to Bruce Watson's nicknames?

I'm sure I missed something, but I quit reading 20 posts ago when everyone made thier points. Snuff is a stubborn cat, I can respect that. You're not going to change his mind. On the other hand, Not a Fan doesn't seem to be open to change his mind. Meanwhile the other 99% of the blog population falls somewhere in the middle. Such is life, I suppose. At the risk of sounding reasonable, can't the hatchet just be buried? We've all read how you feel... You've even made Wendy try to use logic in who's stupid vs. ignorant...

Just ask yourself WWHST (What Would Hit Somebody Type).

Hit Somebody!!!
Fri, 07/30/2010 - 6:48pm

You are all off your flipping rockers.

This thread is like watching dogs take a crap, they run out, sniff around, they start to circle around one spot, they bow their back legs, lean back, and turn on the pooper, and what is worse there are 2 dogs they keep pooping over and over it to be honEst, it is starting to stink in here.

My advice, take your crap, and move on.

No one is going to in this argument, what are we arguing about anyway?

I am lost.

Can't we argue about Legault's role 2 seasons ago, or if Varone scored 40 goals last season, or if Schebig likes red headed people, or if Burgee is a foo foo colored pill popper, or how old Guy is, or if PC gives 71% on the ice......???

Really, I don't care what you argue about.....

I just had to say something, it is what Hit Somebody does.

I vote for pre-game ceremony for opening night where a dog comes out on the ice, a red-headed dog, circles, bows his legs, and poops the puck for the opening faceoff, and then the Komet Players take turns dropping their mitts and welcoming the CHL and The Rapid City Rushmores to the Jungle.

We got Fun and Games.......baby!!!

Fri, 07/30/2010 - 8:12pm

OK, just to be in on the fun and games and get called names as well....

The Lake Erie Monsters (AHL) ticket prices...

http://www.lakeeriemonsters.com/tickets/packages/

The Kalamazoo K-Wings (ECHL) ticket prices (they do have 1 and 2 year prices listed....watch which one you're reading!)...

http://www.wingsstadium.com/tickets.htm

This seems to me to show that the ticket prices reflect the market of the city in which the team is located....Kalamazoo's attendance is horrible, so their prices are fantastic!! I'd love for ours to be this low. But I'm glad our attendance, fans, team, and overall experience is way better than theirs. Cleveland's is a pretty great arena and experience, although they routinely don't draw as well as us, comparatively speaking, not night after night, anyway....and I've never seen the same guys twice on their roster. Sort of hard to root for them. Maybe I'm just used to the Komets? Who knows.

Either way, Alan, thanks for sharing your experience....I am glad it was good, and that you did decide to renew. It's gonna be a great season....maybe not the best opening night, if it's like what Hit described...LOL. I may have to re-think my marketing guru here.

And mightbite....the Steelers??!! Dude....we need to talk....come on, man, you're killing me here....
