Right on the money Blake (as usual). I just do not understand all of the Blogger negativity. None of us have any idea just what the final product will be. All or most just want to have something to complain about. There are a number of them that I am convinced will never be pleased. The one thing that is constant is your reporting. Always well done! I know that if and when there is more information to be passed out you will get it to us as quickly as possible. One large "Professional" thank you.

Who has been negative on here? Lots of good questions are being asked by a lot of different people. Other than the bashing of the people who first said they were hearing about this, I haven't really seen anyone saying a lot of negative things. The discussions on here have been some of the best of the year IMO.

I think you need to cut some people some slack Dschebig... Very little "official" information has been made available to the Komets faithfull and alot of people see this friday's early bird deadline approaching quickly with really no clue what they could get for thier money this coming season. Alot of people do not like to invest blindly and thats what they are being asked to do at his point. With the economy the way it is and less disposable income for people to throw towards entertainment this type of change is scary or frustrating. There are households I know of who have thousands of dollars riding on this and thier budgets are tighter nowadays than ever which, IMO, fuels the opportunity for negativity... Not everyone is in the position to throw money blindly towards something they dont know what the return will be without any concerns.....

I think it would be wise for the Komets organization to throw another bone to the loyal STH's and move back the deadline till after ALL information is out that pertains to how this merger is going to operate... They may even get some old STH's to return........

$1250 for something you don't know what you are getting.

People that make part of their income from the Komets seem to be the most critical of those who contribute part of thier own income to the Komets. Odd.

Blake, I'm intrigued by the fact that there is room and cities which fall in between both leagues. Des Moines, St Charles, Evansville, Memphis, Omaha, Louisville, Lexington, etc.

Is there a way you could post maps of the CHL, IHL, and SPHL?

I am interested in seeing how the travel could be reduced by adding teams to these cities thus kind of filling in the spaces and connecting all the dots.

I just think this whole thing would be better if there were more of a "bridge" between the two entities and also wondered how the southernmost CHL teams would benefit by Knoxville, Huntsville etc.

I believe the off ice officials are volunteer positions... I think I heard that here once, although I doubt they have to pay to get in the door...LOL Now that would be a kick in the teeth

Why should they have to pay to get into the door to go to work? I don't pay for tickets, either, but I spend two or three times as much time there as anyone who is not part of the team.

Don't have that capability, Alan, but a good idea. I'm sure these ownership groups probably have a map like that. I think that's the larger plan. Expansion cities that may not have gone to one or the other might be better intrigued by being a part of both right now. To me, that's the most-intriguing part of this. That could be the Holy Crap! part of all of this.

Pronger = Bertram in a way.

I havent' thought there's been that much negativity other than JungleMonkey, but that just means he's awake for the day. LOL.

I think there have been some great, legitimate questions, questions I've tried to find the answers for as much as possible, but right now there are no answers. It truly is a legal situation since they are a publicly traded company. Just because they are not giving answers, however, doesn't mean they don't already have them. These are not stupid people, and I would bet there is a plan. I keep hearing parts of it.

Of course, I know some people will never accept the answers no matter how good or honest they are. They'd rather just gripe. That's life.

I think JR has a good point on extending the deadline again. Wouldn't shock me at all. In fact, if I were you, I would call the Komets and suggest it.

JR
Wed, 06/02/2010 - 2:40pm

Just got off the phonee and they said that 90% have already renewed thier tickets for next year.... I told them too many questions left unanswered for me to invest that kind of money and we ended the conversation...........

I called back because I dont think I did a good enough job of stating my point and they let me leave a voicemail for Micheal Franke (I hope he does listen to it). The jist of the message was that I did not renew my season ticket a couple years ago due to the instability of the UHL/IHl at the time and have been waiting to renew; but cannot until I know what product I am getting... I cant fork over that kind of money in today's economy blindly and that extending the deadline again would throw an olive branch to those fans who are on the bubble and want answers first before committing...

Pronger can talk all the pucks he wants. The Hawks won't let Grumpy walk away with The Cup!

Burgee
Wed, 06/02/2010 - 3:34pm

so lets make assumptions since i don't have anything better to do right now than count little green monkeys (saw hoosiers about 8 times yesterday) can't tan - too cloudy and i don't fake bake.

JR's data says that 90% of STH's have renewed, so is that saying that the majority of the STH's are there for the Komet experience rather than the hockey(on ice product). does the low attendance at the NCAA tourney that had over a year to draw fans support the Komet experience theory?

i'll go with the old 80/20 rule that JR's data seems to support, more people want that "Komet experience" than just an on ice product.

i think even the low attendance numbers in other cities say that the on ice product is not what draws the fans.

you know what happens when you make assumptions and i'm a big one!

i will say the last couple of years have been the most troubling economically that i can ever remember so i understand not wanting to part with your jack. At the end of the season i even started buying the less expensive foo foo's.

I would like to see someone crosscheck pronger in the back like he does to others, no, really i would like to see Ben Eager kick his rear, but im sure he wouldnt be tough enough to drop the gloves!

Thats great the the komets already have 90% of season ticket holders back, i guess no one really cares about what league as long as its the orange and black with a fireball on the front.

Wed, 06/02/2010 - 4:12pm

How long do they hold STH seats if the holders of those seats don't renew? Just wondering since I've heard people talk about renewing their seats after several years of not doing so.

Burgee
Wed, 06/02/2010 - 4:43pm

I would ASSume that if they didn't have the seat the year prior then they would not be renewing but returning. Is that a safe assumption? Wendy is just trying to start trouble by mixing words! Red headed hockey chicks do that, root for blackhawks, bake cookies and dog biscuits. Wendy, BLB and FMM are trouble makers.

Just remember if I don't pick on you in public I talk about you behind your back!

Blake Sebring

Says the world's biggest troublemaker. If bloggers were hockey players, Burgee would be Ken Linsman! Man, I miss players like that. Sigh.

Bob
Wed, 06/02/2010 - 5:07pm

I think it depends on whether someone else decides to buy the seats if the previous STH decides not to renew them. For example, the seats on the other side of the aisle from my seats have been open since my friend Rob did'nt renew a few years ago (work hours and travel conflicts)

Hey wait a minute, how did I get dragged into this conversation? LOL I would never cause trouble, I would never heckle the opposition, I will bake cookies. Wait a minute, my mom reads this blog, she knows I cause trouble.
Where's the love for the Blackhawks on here?
I don't think they hold seats for season ticket holders who don't renew. I think if you tell them you're not renewing/don't pay the deposit then the seats are up for grabs immediately. I seem to remember reading that STHs have "first dibs" if other seats open up, but I've never been contacted about any other seats. Which is fine, I like where I'm at!

Who wants good news?

I do.

I will share.

Flint will be back. They have a lease deal with Perani in writing. But I wonder if the arena might be bought by former PH owner Kinney. He seems to be the new major owner in Flint of the Generals.

Also, I read this from a fan in a CHL city that shared what they are hearing on FYC....

"Since I live in a CHL city, I will let you guys know what we are hearing.

The CHL will have 22 teams next year.

The current 13 CHL teams
The current 5 IHL teams
1 Expansion team in Texas
3 "new" teams around the current IHL teams

There is talk about raising the vet limit to 6
Last year the CHL played 64 games, there is talk about raising it to 66 or 70"

To me, this is exciting news and I am liking this CHL/IHL thing if this all works out. As it seems it might well be.

My wonder is who are the 3 new IHL teams? I will guess: St. Charles, Hoffman Estates, and Evansville.

Go Komets!!!

New league....new teams....will we have new jerseys?

Hit, has the lease been accepted and approved? According to Savage's blog it hasn't been approved yet, just offered.

Nothing announced yet.....but I am sure this is the thing they were waiting on to get the deal done. Some have said it was the only thing holding the process up. Now they have a lease on paper....we'll have to wait and see....but I read into this as being a positive step. Particularily of Mr. Kinney is involved in this thing. Talk about deep pockets.

Agreed salvucci......

Hit, I agree it looks very positive at this point for Flint but they still have ownership details, like they need one, to take care of also. It does look good though and I won't be surprised to see an ownership announcement at the same time.

I'm curious about the Michigan Warriors' deal now, is it still on for Flint, have they been offered a lease at the same time, etc.

Burgee, I hope you get a severe case of brain freeze from the next foo foo you drink...

This gives the 'hawks the opportunity to win on home ice in game five.
