Tailing the Komets

Uninspiring first period

Komets were getting out-shot 10-3 before they turned it on late in the period, but there's no score so far. Pretty good fight between Jon Mirasty and Matt McCue. Nick Boucher was very lucky early as the puckcontinues to bounce like a bask

We USED to have the best ice to play on. What has happened to make the ice so soft? As far as moving up in standings? Forget that-----not gonna happen. My prediction is out in first round in three.

First I saw their bus on the side of the road this morning as I was traveling for a meeting and thought to myself been there before. That in its self is very draining and it takes its toll on knees and backs. I don't know how many times this club can get knock down and get back up, but I do think they are giving what they can tonight. Hopefully nobody gets hurt tonight because that would be my concern because of the fatigue factor.

I wish theyd put a Fletcher fight on the Omni Source recycled scrap promo. That was before my hockey days and Id like to see the legend.

How many opportunities did Curdy have tonight? The Komets made that hack MacIntyre look like Patrick Roy..

I bet his chest is bruised in the morining. He must have taken 30 shots to the ribs. Lol.

Why did the K's chip at Naurato all night?

Probably because they thought it would get him off his game, and it seemed to work.

And maybe Kometsfan not in the stands next year. A dream come true.

It is a darn shame that the Mad Ants games with their much smaller attendance continue to cause soft ice for the Komets. Mad Ants play one night + Komets play the next night = bad ice for Komets. I know scheduling is difficult, and the Komet's schedule this season has been especially wild, but could someone please make every effort to not schedule the Ants and Komets on consecutive days next season.

I had posted before the game last night about "character". Whether or not this team would display it.

So I get to the game and learn that the bus had broken down. A blown tire caused the players to get in late. ( With all the stuff that has gone wrong this season you'd like to think that at least the busses wouldn't break down every other road trip.)

About ten minutes into the first period the gentleman who sits behind me leaned down and said, "looks like they're just going through the motions, doesn't it"? I replied that the bus broke down and they didn't get in until 7:30-8:00am. Hopefully, without falling behind, they would get their "legs" back.

That is exactly what happened. Despite getting outshot early, enduring a few penalties along the way, the Komets played a pretty nice game. They had numerous chances to score and either missed the net, couldn't control a bouncing puck, or just plain got stopped by a quality goaltender. ( It's easy to see why McIntyre was called up to the AHL a few times this season).

I think it was ineresting that the only goal of the game came from a net mouth scramble. Crashing the net works.

I was glad to see DeAngelis on the ice tonight although I kind of found myself wincing a little when he had the puck for fear of a hit that would knock him out of the game.

I was glad to see Krug on the ice and I think he is a pretty good addition to the team and a definite upgrade to the defense.

Yep, the defense showed up tonight, the goaltendong showed up, the forechecking showed up, and 6,911 fans showed up to watch.

You know what else showed up?

"Character".

While Mac is a solid goalie AT TIMES he hasn't spent any times in the AHL this year. I'm sure you're thinking of Dayton's #1 goalie Jeff Jakaitis who has been called up a few times and is currently with Portland

Thanks, GM. I stand corrected and am glad you pointed it out for me. Good job!
