A win tends to decrease the blog comments.

The win had absolutely nothing to do with the decreased amount of comments....

It's just that Applebee's sux and their crappy food is overpriced.

Too bad it's not at O'charley's still! I loved it when they had it there.

Burgee, why are you eating at chain restaurants anyway? You get 2 mins in the box. The traffic is down here because several 12 year olds got their feelings hurt and decided to take their ball and go home. I, for one, won't miss them or the way they seem to dominate every thread and get upset if they get called out. They seem to want the right to attack but can't take it when it comes back on them. Now they want to cry about being called names. I can't count how many times I have read them attacking and calling names. Now, maybe we will get some loyal Komet loving readers to want to contribute here.

Yeah, what BAM said!

Bam24 and JB, your comments above have opened a door for me to express my thoughts about the rift that has developed on this blog. As in most conflicts there is blame to be put on both sides.

Without being able to read the blogs that were either edited or erased, it is difficult to point a finger at either party. I have received some responses to my question which was, What happened? So here are my thoughts.

1) bloggers should have the right to post anything they wish, so long as the post is done in a respectful manner. No name calling, cursing, or other inappropriate language to be allowed.

2) a blogger ( like Mightbite ) should have the right to post on player movement, whether rumor or not, without the fear of being attacked by the monitor nor the requirement of having to e-mail the information to anyone before it is judged to be accurate or not.
a.) I have received information from very, and I mean very good sources which have come true regarding the signing of players. I will never reveal the person or persons who are the sources. To do so would create a lack of trust that I could never earn back. The monitor, or the bloggers, or both, have the right to dismiss the information provided. It is their choice. The monitor, as a journalist, should recognize the value of sources and trust.

Just as we would expect the entries to the threads be done in a respectful manner, we we would expect the monitor to be held to the same high standards. Any form of name calling or other inappropriate responses are clearly off limits. The monitor is expected, fairly or unfairly, to be held to a higher standard as he is the leader of "tailing the Komets".

To equate a bloggers intention of passing on player ( signings, comings and goings ) to a breech of some newspaper standard is, in my mind, just plain funny. For example, maybe a suggestion to those who enjoy informing others on player signings should use the phrase, "rumor has it that the Komets are talking to ?????....or to use the phrase, "anonymous sources are reporting that the K's are thinking of signing ????? The newspaper uses "anonymous sources" in their reporting all the time throughout the paper, regardless of the kind of news it is. They want scoops.

Scoops? I hate to say this and am hesitant to think that maybe the monitor is a bit envious that he is required to be sure before announcing a signing. That goes with the territory of being a professional journalist. For sure, the playing field is not equal in that regard. I realize that, and respect the temperament it takes to live under those rules.

Temperament? It seems that both the monitor and the bloggers have lost their patience now.

This blog doesn't have to be here but the newspaper does have advertisements all around it. It does bring readers to the News-Sentinel site and is a "competitor" of the blog "Ice Chips" and the Journal-Gazette. If they want to shut the blog down, then they should just do it. Everyone WILL run over to the other side.

My opinion is that Cohn runs a looser blog than Blake. My opinion is that Blake spends more time and gives us more in-depth information than Cohn.

My suggestion would be for Blake to back off some of these "rules" he is instituting and "count to ten" sometimes before he responds. My suggestion is for some bloggers to take it easy with the accusations, language, and tone when starting their thoughts.

I hope that those who have decided to leave this blog permanently will reconsider. I hope that Blake will address those who have felt slighted and meet them at least halfway.

Most of us are adults. Let's act like adults and be an example for those who are not.

you guys dont understand how many times blake has counted to ten and he simply got tired of the same old stuff over and over again. he puts too much time into this and he should be apreciated. i quit on here because of the childish behaavior and name calling and the do as i say and not as i do responses. ive always enjoyed a good discussion of komet hockey and myself and a few others have been able to add things due to our experiences and just plain number of years being around hockey but when we were called names and told our experience didnt mean anything, most of us quit. i hope now this blog can get back to arguing hockey and not who said what first or to whom or who knows the most insiders ect. go komets

And its the posts like Bam and Chuckitt's that would/could start another arguement from friends of those who are no longer posting here... A friend MIGHT say, its just their style to wait until they are no longer posting to call them names or post in the same style that they are degrading them for once doing....

Pot calling the Kettle black.....

Everyone who reads/posts here is a loyal Komets fan. Most all that are not posting right now are and have been for quite some time STH's; but because they view this team in a different manner they were attacked and they in turn did some attacking of their own...

Alan is correct, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and should be able to express that opinion without someone going after them. Disagree, yes. Have discussions about them, yes. Badger them as less of a Komets fan than yourself because of that differing view, NO!

Now I'm hoping that if Blake stays consistent that he will remove those posts that are belittling in the very same manner they disagreed with towards others who are no longer posting here. So I will wait to take issue with some of those hypocritic posts above until I see how Blake plans on handling them.....

Nothing hypocrite about the posts. Bottom line is, those that have left werent happy unless they were stirring the pot. When someone disagrees or has a different opinion, they react as if they were the know all be all to hockey. I read Blake's blog because he provides great information about a team and sport I love. I hate to see the same 4 or 5 bloggers dominate and hijack every thread. If someone tends to disagree with them, they go into attack mode including name calling and belittling.
I too believe Blake has been patient with all of this. It has gone too far in my opinion. It's a HOCKEY BLOG for crying out loud. Blake has a full time job, he doesn't need to be an underpaid babysitter too. I applaud Blake for taking the stands that he has. Afterall, it is his blog. When someone gets bent out of shape because they want credit for info or player signings, it tends to get a little ridiculous. I love hearing about news regarding the Komets, but when its not credible or verified, how do I know if it was legit? I can predict all kinds of things on here right now, but without naming the player or my source, there isn't any risk on my part is there? That is ridiculous to me.
Go back an look how many bloggers were contributing the last 4 or 5 months. They are dominated by a select few. I don't think that OS what this blog should be and I doubt Blake does either. Its simply sad that a few have reacted the way they have. Just my opinion, but I will visit and talk Komet hockey more now that those that seem to feel they owned this blog have left. Keep up the great work Blake. I look forward to your stories and reporting. Hopefully, we can get back to have civil discussions about the team we all support. Go Komets!

I thought it was the News Sentinel's blog this whole time. Shows what I know I guess. A good way for those with thin skin to avoid who takes credit for what and who saw what first is to just read Blake's stories and thread titles, then avoid the comments altogether. It's always amusing to read people's claims on here like they have been forced to read the comments. You can get all the great info from Blake with none of the BLOGGING that seems to bother some people by just avoiding the comments.
