A Veterans Day parade

Huh. I did not know. There is a Veterans Day site on the Web. At the FAQ link, I find this:

Q. Who decides if a government office or business closes or stays open on Veterans Day?

A. Federal government closings are established by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM).  Generally, when a holiday falls on a non-workday -- Saturday or Sunday -- the federal government is closed on Monday (if the holiday falls on Sunday) or Friday (if the holiday falls on Saturday).  A complete schedule of Federal Government closings can be found on the Internet at http://www.opm.gov/oca/worksch/index.htm.

State and local governments, including schools, are not required to follow OPM closure policies and may determined for themselves whether to close or remain open. Likewise, non-government businesses are free to make their own decisions to close or remain open for business, regardless of federal, state or local government closings.

I have been complaining for years that veterans should get Veterans Day off with pay. Looks like it will happen this year! (Well, except for the "with pay" part.) I shall give my cats little flags to wave tomorrow, and march back and forth in front of them in the living room. They love a parade.

Would that be before or after the sex toy delivery?

Leo:
I'd get the cats IN your parade...go nab a couple of radio-controlled cars (tanks would be even BETTER) for their ride, place the flags on the cars/tanks with some bunting...and there 'ya go...

ALL the tradition of Veterans Day...at minimal cost....and EVERYONE gets to participate....a win-win all around.

BTW, there is scuttlebutt going around the statehouse about having the state NOT taking taxes from service personnel serving IN combat areas for their tour of duty...that's something that I'd pass hands down! (and about time, I might add)
