Glenn said on TV that there wasn't a Mirasty fight....but here is a Leo Thomas fight that Leo gets the short end of....

Guess Glenn is Kasual too???

Glenn and Blake do great on the in the zone deal.....even though I call BS on BS for the "eating crow" take.

Where was the Mirasty fight? After all the attention, Mirasty deserved the recognition on the highlight.

Give me free tickets and fly me up there and I will promote The Komets. I have not seen a Komet game in person for almost 50 years. Blake, you do a super job.

Blake where are those quotes from?

Also you should note that we have all 3 stars on the CHL's website for the Oakley 3 Stars. Colin Chaulk, Sean O'Conner, Derek Patrosso

I made that statement about Klotz Ryan. I have since changed my mind as it appears that things have turned around bigtime! Go Komets move up the ladder and win the cup. That will shut people like me up! Lol.

The 3 stars are because that was the only game played last night.

Though their stats for the game were deserving of the stars.

So it's ok to quote people on this thread to make them look foolish, but if it's done on the other thread by someone not running the blog, it gets removed?

Ha, good ones Blake. Ah..... who knows where this season goes but for now it looks good. Of course it wasn't going well at all before Christmas but remember all those who just threw their hands up and were done with it. And all those that got on Blake for bringing up how well the Komets usually turn it on around Christmas. 14-3-4 since Dec 22.

Before next season starts lets bring up these points. I understand venting but some people are just all over the map with emotions. It's over! Oh, wait they're great. Ugh, they suck again! It's a long season. Whoever is there in the end wins.

How about Tab Lardner too. Remember he got a goal in his first Komet game and then went 9 straight without a point. Since then - 18gp, 17 goals, 8 assists.

Credit Dave Franke and Sims for being able to step back and not go crazy with dumping the whole team. Face it - they know what they're doing with their guys in the locker room better than anyone in the stands.

Get over yourselves all ready. Gheesh.

I recall Superfan on "In the Zone" with Glenn talking about changes needed to be made. Blake sounded like everyone else on here that couldn't figure out why a team with talent was not playing like a "team" with Talent.....

Super Fan was on the record all over the place talking about leadership, guys needing to step-up, changes needing to be made.....no different than the next guy on here.

So now we have mocking and people wanting to shove Crow down people's throats.

I say: check yourself.

My solution was bring back Chaulk from way back in the first couple of weeks. I am not the only one who felt that way.

Tab Lardner was a gift from the Hockey Heavens.....we got him for nothing.....as it seems anyway.

Frankes made some great moves to right the ship....

My point from the start.....the team lacked a couple of components.....

a) Not a strong top-line with a strong play making center.

b) No true leadership on and off the ice.

c) No true quarterback on the ice for the Powerplay.

d) No guy that could win the battles in the faceoff circle.

What did the Komets get to fix those areas:

Let me see......

Chaulk, Lardner, and Lapointe.

Lapointe wins faceoffs and is a serious role player that does a lot of little things good that sometimes goes un-noticed that add up huge in the grand scheme of every game.

Chaulk and Lardner.....top line players.....powerplay guys.....penalty kill guys.....best 2 players on the team.....they step into the top line......everyone else goes down a line and the guys who were supposed to step it up, now can go back to being 2nd and 3rd liners and not forced to do things they were uncomfortable doing.

This team has the parts now.

Very early on,,,,,you could point out that Al Sims and David Franke made huge mistakes in under-estimating the talent and systems in this league.

They have fixed the problems....

Chaulk makes a huge difference in so many aspects of the game......he could never get enough credit.

Tab Lardner is an absolute hockey playing stud that plays the game the way it was intended to be played.

So eat your own dang crow and stop acting like you weren't questioning the same things that everyone was.

This has been a huge puzzle, now, they finally have the pieces.

Kudos to them for figuring it out.

Gotta agree with Hit...The "negative nellies" who were right more than people would like to admit, were constantly saying changes needed to be made and even said exactly where changes needed made. Most just cried about people being negative and to give it time but what did the Frankes do? They addressed the weakness on the team that was pointed out by those who were "negative"

Now that the Komets are starting to win the "positive patty's" are here basically saying "I told you so" except for that minor detail that had the Komets not made the changes that the "negative" crowd pointed out weeks prior we'd still be lucky to score a goal, much less win a game.

Hit said it best with "check yourself"

Hats off to Hit. Could not agree more. Nice addition to it GM. Negative Nellies were perhaps more of the realists early on. Glad to see the season turned around, and thank you to all the negative nellies for pointing out the short-comings early on.

Ask yourselves this. If everyone was positive and had nothing negative to say/show, would owners of teams ever have to make changes? No. Attendance would remain high. Everyone would congratulate players and owners on their poor performance and things would remain the same.. Stagnant.

This nonsense cracks me up. Burgee comes out of hibernation, Blake wants to toss egg in everyone's face. So much for civility on the blog.

Not sure what the motivation was for Blake quoting some of the comments made earlier. I read them carefully and don't think any of them were mine but I will admit to being very concerned about a team who boasts three cups in a row, whose coach claims that they will score more goals than the year before, and then starts out 5-15-3 (?).

Just keeping score, who was the beat writer for the Komets who predicted that Rick Varone and Evgeny Saidechev would be 30 goal scorers?

Kudos for the Franke's to bring back Chaulk, bring in Lardner, Lapointe, Molle, Podshendyalov, Musselwhite, Francis, and Mirasty. This team went to training camp with an exaggerated opinion of its talent.

Now the team is starting to really perform and it is to the Franke's credit that they made the changes necessary to accomplish the turnaround.

Hockey at the Coliseum is starting to be "fun" again and it's because the team on the ice, today, is not at all similar to the team that played Rapid City on Opening Night.

That fact alone speaks highly for those who saw the imperfections, saw it translate to the standings, and expressed their opinions and concerns.

I aasume that we are all Komet fans and want what is best for the team.

Am I the only one who feels this way? If you agree, let me know. If you disagree I would be more than willing to consider your reasons.

I don't have a problem with Blake quoting people, that's what makes this fun. The only funny part about it is he was agreeing with most of those quotes and writing entire stories along those lines, now it's as if there was never any doubt and he told everyone so all along.

Just to be fair....Evgeny Saidachev was injured while he was here. Twice. He was a favorite of mine, and I felt the need to defend him. I think he would have panned out, he was pretty darn good, but he really did have a hard time playing with injuries....despite claims made to the contrary on this blog, I believe some injuries that make it hard to play hockey, knee and back included. May just be my opinion, and no I am not a doctor, and I did not stay in an HI Express last night either. :)

And I had to laugh at this line from above: "If everyone was positive and had nothing negative to say/show, would owners of teams ever have to make changes? " Be real....people, being positive about the Komets?....bwa ha ha ha ha.....now that was the laugh I needed to get my Friday rolling....thank you for that......and it is very true too....they never would have to change anything if no one complained. Because I'm sure the players and coaches loved losing games too....it was not just the fans or anything like that.

And Chad, thanks for acknowledging that there were a few of us who were stubbornly insisting that we would turn the corner around Christmas....LOL....I loved that you printed the stats. So glad it happened to coincide with all of the changes that the Frankes made due to the fans on this blog requesting them. ;) (You really never know....we did get the Game of the Week back....power to the people!!)

And wow, Hit....I think Alan's books pale in comparison with that latest post of yours! Holy cow! :)

I think most every one felt changes needed to be made, the difference is between how much, who, and confidence that the changes would be made.

The positive outlook was confidence in those responsible for making changes, ie the coach, GM, and owners would make them, especially considering their track record.

Then there were those who not only wanted to blow up the team, they wanted to fire the coach, GM, and get new owners, the very people responsible for making the changes that did turn this team around, or were critical of that group and doubted they would do what was necessary.

It's pretty obvious mistakes were made over the summer and at the beginning of the season. It's also pretty obvious those mistakes were acknowledged and corrections made.

Perhaps the only real question would be to question if the changes could have been made sooner. Change could have, of course. But the team would look a lot different now then it does because those who appear to be the final pieces to the puzzle weren't available back then so speculating on the results would be just that, speculation.
