No way does that account for a 2 game suspension-he slashed his stick.

Cant disagree more!!!! That was a nasty slash with purpose... no room for that...

He skated up behind the guy and slashed him in a vulnerable area and Lindberg didnt know it was coming...no chance to ready yourself for a blow like that. If a player wearing black and red did that you'd be frothing at the mouth...

JR covered it. Komet fans have to look at both sides, If Kevin Hansen had done the same thing to Guy or Chaulk... we'd be asking for his head to be placed on a post in Headwaters Park.

Is this how its done in the AHL?

In the AHL he prob isn't hacked and slashed every time he touches the ice...That frustration builds up. Not saying its okay or trying to justify why he did such a dumb thing but still, gotta look at the big picture

There is no "I" in team.

And Bob Chase called me an Idiot???

Stupid Arse play Justin. You can't defend that play. We needed you to play because you have talent, we didn't need this kind of rubbage.

you see it there plain and simple!! Boneheaded play by Hodgeman if you ask me...

Ok, so tell me this, what about the cross check from behind in the 1st period right in front of the net, right in front of the ref to which there wasn't a penalty called. I am sitting here watching Game 7 of the Red Wings VS Yotes (which I think is one of, if not the best place to watch a game, beautiful arena.) and I have seen slashes like that all game long, if it were a true hack, then Hodgy would have sliced him not hit him flat stick on calf (hope that makes sense). Everyone said it was a baseball style swing, which is incorrect.
Chad said on another subject that the Ref is calling it pretty even, he was right but, when I said even I meant, if you are going to call a slash, rough, etc on the Komets, then you better call Port Huron for the same slash, rough, etc. Yes we need to stay out of the box but if either ref were to call all of the dirty stuff on them like they did on us then it would not have been even and I think Port Huron knew it...if your guilty then you deserve to go to the box...just call it all or let them play.

@jk- No this is not how it is in the AHL, the Refs there do a better job in controlling the game so none of the after whistle scrums and frustration start. And if it does happen, it is very few and far between.

I have been to plenty of NHL games and AHL games and I can tell you that Refs here are really terrible. Its frustrating.

You can't blame the refs for someone commiting a moronic penalty. It was cheap and isn't justifiable. As bad as the officials are in the IHL, you can't hold them responsible.

JungleMonkey

How is it that the 39 other players were able to contain their "frustration"? They played the same game with the same officiating.

Tue, 04/27/2010 - 8:33pm

officials had nothing to do with this . it was clearly an intent to injure. it was right in front of me and he didnt hit his stick he went for and got the back of his leg going for the ankles, the second most vulnerable place for a player to get hit! stop complaing ft wayne fans, it was a cowardly play and it needs to be recognized as such. real help for the team.

I understand that there is no place for this, and it should not have happened, it was boneheaded, it was out of line, and if Hanson would have done this to one of our guys we would be yelling too. With all of that said, there was no penalty called at the time, so how can the league go back and make a penalty retroactive? I can recall at least one cross-check to Chewy down in front of PH's net. Maybe they can go take that no-call penalty and make it retroactive too.

Right call Mr. Jones and actually he could have given him more. That was uncalled for and the K's will pay the price. Not only losing that game could have been a turning point, but losing Hodge for 2 games is also a turning point. Time for PC/Leo/Huck/Chewy/Schrock to step up lace the skates a little tighter and get after it. That is how a team makes up for a mistake be a fellow player. Dig a little deeper and skate a little faster.

Hodgman needs to be smarter than that. If he really wants to take the next step he needs to stay away from plays like that. I can only imagine what it is like to go from the AHL to the hack of a league that the IHL has become. Reminds me of the old hack/slash/hold league that the UHL was. He is not used to the extra abuse and it boiled over. The Franke's brought him here to be on the ice, not in the box or on the bench. The refs are to blame some, but the players are ultimately responsible for their own actions.

Ok Red Wings just scored with 4.6 seconds left in the 2nd period, Stuart scored..and did anyone happened to see the slash after the fact. Lets call the NHL and tell them that player needs suspended for 2 games.

Like the regular season.....do we have to skate a man short for both games? That would be the back-breaker in all of this. Any idea SuperFan?

I just saw the Hodgman commercial on ABC 21. Perfect timing for running that thing. Hodgman scoring the game winner vs. Port Huron to give us Cup #1.

Can we make it far enough for him to strike again?

Dan

Hodgman is a meathead.

Hit--We will be a man short simply because Mac is out with his nose and now Hodgman is suspended. Rodger will play but we would still one man short.

Hoss
Wed, 04/28/2010 - 6:07am

Dschebig, do you know something we don't about Mac? Why would he be out with his nose now after playing three games with a broken nose?

LGKOmets
Wed, 04/28/2010 - 6:14am

Yeah Dan, Hodgman is the closet thing to the NHL you'll ever see in this league. He is the best player on the ice. PH went after him and right before his slash Lindy slashed him as he crossed the blue line. Of course the penalty was not called. PH wanted this to happen because they know w/o Hodge the K's are a weaker team. So go on bad mouthing the team and Hodge but know that the term still stands for many bloggers here it begins with an I.

Hoss,
I think he had it surgically fixed, Blake mentioned it in another post I believe it was but then in the comments he didnt know who got their nose fixed, but i am sure it was Mac.

Hoss,
Mac was scheduled on Tuesday to have his nose re-broken and straightened out. Before Tuesday, it was over by his ear.

I disagree with LG... Hodgman is not the closest player to the NHL we will see in this league.

P.C. Drouin has played in the NHL.
Bryan Smolinski of Flint has played over 1000 NHL games.
Pascal Rheaume-Flint 300 plus NHL games.
Matthew Spiller-Bloomington 60+ games.

Justin Hodgman... 0 NHL games.

Hodgman is talented, but to say he's the "closest thing you'll see to the NHL in this league" would be false.

LGKOmets - what "I" word would that be?

My thoughts on what the "I" word LGKOmets was referring to to describe bloggers:

Illustrious
Imaginative
Impartial
Impeccable
Incognito
INCREDIBLE
Independent
Infinite
Influential
Ingenious
Innovative
Instinctive
Integrity
Intellectual
Intelligent
Intense
Interesting
International (we have a blogger from Canada)
Invaluable
Inventive
Inviting

Am I close? Any others we can think of?

JM: How dare you disagree with LG, he knows EVERYTHING about hockey and you are wrong by default just for disagreeing with him. Hasn't Morrency played quite a few AHL games also? Didn't we have an Olympic goalie also?

Prediction: Komets stay alive long enough for Hodgman to be able to play again. He scores a goal and two assists in his return and everyone loves him again, just like how Haun has gained everyone's love and admiration with his play after his cheap shot with a much bigger stick earlier in the season. Granted, Haun probably doesn't have the swinging power of Hodgman, but no one cheers for him any less, from what I can hear, when he is announced at games these days.

Thanks Andrea.

(I'm assuming the Ingenious was for me.)

I didn't even start the list of guys "in this league" that have played far more AHL games.

I figured there were tons more, JM, I just don't know them. I also figured the list was way too long.

He is the best player in the league hands down right now. The others are pretty much has beens otherwise they would still be playing in the IHL. By the way the word Chase used for my fellow bloggers would be IDIOTS!

Eh, I don't think that slash was deserving of two game****he other guy seemed to be fine. I'm glad I finally got to see it though I had only read about it and they made it sound worse than it actually was. Not to speak for Mr. Chase. But I think he was directing his "Idiot" comments to those bloggers "who think they know everything" not those who actually do. That would leave almost all of Blakes bloggers out of the conversation. If you think I am kidding just read what follows this entry.
