Sure, you could, Shane, but they aren't going to be better than Tyler and you'd have to release someone to make a roster spot. That's the real situation. With Tyler on a emergency goaltender contract, he only counts against the roster if he plays.

You gotta love Komets fans. Complain and bee-ach all year long. Do any of you remember last December? And what happened last year. Yeah, let's show our leaders the door. Guy the #1 D man in the IHL and Chaulk the spiritual leader of team. Let's just put a rookie team on the ice.

It would have been nice to see sims get to play a few games! i thought varone and stayzer were out?

Thanks Blake, I wasn't sure how that all worked. It really is a catch 22 with Haun having to play so many games in a row and the only way Tyler can play is if he is hurt. I guess you could say "it is what it is". K's down 1 -0 on a Gems power play. Huk got 2 for hooking and then a 10 minute misconduct. Really need him on the ice, that one hurt with the K's skating short-handed tonight. How many guys are the K's going to have to let go next week when Shaf, Bouch, and Mac are activated? That will be a tough call to make..

Mac already counts on the active roster....when shaf and bouch are back 2 guys will be out the door.

All this crying because an upstart team beat us last night in a shoot-out? If we were losing games 5-2, or 6-0, then I would be leading the mob to the offices over on Parnell and we could all pass out the shovels and pitch-forks.....but come on people.....you all sound like a bunch of spoiled brats. We lose one game and people come on here looking to change the roster and complain that Sims and Co. don't know what they are doing? Really?

It is December 5th. As long as they keep it close and stay within striking distance of the top, this team always gets hot after the first of the year, and I have zero reason to believe they won't do so again this year.

Maybe they don't win the cup this season.....OMG....the world might end.

Enjoy the hockey and stop whining, babies!!!

komets have always jelled around christmas time whenever they started slow. since we are having scoring problems right now every doomsayer is up in arms. but i guess we are only a few points from first place and have the best defense in the league. certainly not the time to panic. and the game has past by chaulk? ha ha he is not a scorer but a setup man and hes second on the team in points so if that means hes over the hill then all i can say is get me two more just like him!

20 man roster, and Ks currently have 23 players here. Mac is on suspension and Boucher and Shafranov are on IR so that's 20. Varone is on 14-day IR, but you can't replace him on the roster so essentially he still counts except against the salary cap. Only 30-day IR guys don't count on the active roster. Beats me, IHL rules. Tyler doesn't count on the roster at all.

It will be a very tough call to make because the Komets are heavy on Dmen right now and guess what everybody else is always looking for. Getting rid of a forward doesn't really help either unless you can replace him with some more skill.

And there's still Syroczynski in Norfolk and nobody knows what's going to happen there. He may stick. Who knows? I do know the IHL has done away with the rule that requires you to play in at least six games to qualify for the playoffs. Not sure why they did that, though.

Then again, this year, everybody SHOULD be looking for forwards. Nobody in the league is scoring.

I still think it's because the talent level is down. Everybody brought in goons and nobody brought in skill. Nobody has the depth up front they had last year. IHL has 10 goalies under 3.00 this year and 11 over .900 save percentage. Really? These guys are very capable, but do you really think they are that good?

Chuckitt is right... seems like the last few seasons the K's have had a rough stretch this time of year. By New Year's or so everything is OK again. I'm not gonna panic just yet.

Well not complaining, but that was by far the worst game of the season for the Komets....lets hope they get it back together....

I agree Mark.

Everyone wait for me, I am getting my pants on, going out to the garage to get my rake, and going to start the march to Parnell if everyone is ready....see you there.

The effort tonight was questionable. 3 people will be cut from the team.....I hope it is 3 people who are mailing in the games. Tim Haun is getting no help.

No need to panic though. Rough spots happen in sports.

Thanks for that detailed explanation there Blake..Well they have a tough lost to QC last night who in turned got smoked tonight by Muskegon 6-2, and the K's loose to the Gems 3-0 and their play tonight seem to be worst than last night. They played with no energy it seem from watching B2. RIght now we are 7 points out of 1st. IMO right now I see a lack of "chemistry" on the ice and a lot of that could be the effect of injuries and having to shuffle the line combinations. While I know they miss Shaf, Syro, and Bouch I really think they miss Mac in many ways. It will be interesting to see how they play against Flint on Sunday because if they only achieve 1 point out 6 this weekend then I think a lot of people will be doing some head scratching. The reason I say that is that QC and Flint are both bottom dwellers right now.

Oh man, not gonna be able to read the blog until we win again, naysayers will be popping out of the woodwork, musky only is really 3 points up on us since we have played 2 fewer games. Flint is riding a winning streak and we are riding a losing streak, komets win tomorrow 1-0 in overtime, take it to vegas or sign up for the score prediction contest.

Almost every year David Franke pulls the trigger on a trade or a free agent pickup or a college kid in the second half of the season that makes a difference..
Huk, Leo...Hodgeman...Wiggins..just some examples of guys that came in before the playoffs that had big impacts down the stretch. I am not worried

dM, Danny stewart is no longer on coventrys roster,"hence"that is why I said he isn't playing right now.Whoever posted that this team has no chemistry is right. Those of us who are complaining are just voicing our opinions of what we see on the ice.Right now it ain't working!I know it's only Dec. and hopefully they pick it up as they have in the past, time will tell.Maybe they can pull one out tonight. K's 3-2 no overtime.
