Tailing the Komets

We hardly knew ye

The Richmond Riverdogs have officially closed up shop, and the Missouri River Otters are moving all their equipment out of Family Arena today to put it in storage. They have no lease for next year, and no one is expecting anything for next year.

According to UHL Vice President of Media Relations Brian Werger, the league is not expected to add further penalty to Komets center Andrew Luciuk for his actions in Game 2.

Rockford is going to activate Ronnie Vogel tonight and he will start in goal. Scott Dickie will be the emergency back-up, meaning he can't play unless Vogel is injured.

Expect the UHL to re-examine its playoff roster limits over the summer. Having 19 active players and two college signees means teams are going to run out of players by the end of the playoffs with injuries.

I thought that was kind of stupid to restrict the number of players for the playoffs. A healthy team could run ragged over a team that was not. Case in point how Muskegon was able to take 4 of 5 games last year. I don't see the harm in expanding the roster to 22-25 players like they use to do in the "I". I do see the only problem would be where to get them from. It alomst sounds like rosters should be expanded during the season as well. There should be a small practice squad that would not count against the cap.

I agree with greg on this one, i think the teams should be able to carry additional players through the whole season.

Any word on anyone jumping leagues and over into the UHL for next year? I would support the league cutting a deal to any team in the Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Illinois area for joining.

Getting ready for tonights hog roast.

Its about time the UHL pulls its head out of its..well you know...I always questioned why they didn't expand the rosters...let the teams run with 4 lines...12 forwards 6 d, the best hockey would be played...

The NHL playoffs are awesome..lots of action...

Well, this for certain sticks FW in with QC, Rockford and Chicago next year. Unless the league goes to 2 divisions and maybe puts Kal and MC in with the Komets division.

Musk, PH, Flint in with then NY teams.

Get rid of Roanoke.

It's all about economics, rosters and locations. Many of the owners figure why should they pay three guys to sit in the stands.

Anybody expect Vogel to play more than a period tonight?

I talked to a couple of fans in Richmond who said that fans there would be sad to see the team go. I think they will end up in the SPHL. They drew well enough to be a success in that league. Roanoke should follow.
