Tailing the Komets

We hardly knew ye

The Richmond Riverdogs have officially closed up shop, and the Missouri River Otters are moving all their equipment out of Family Arena today to put it in storage. They have no lease for next year, and no one is expecting anything for next year.

Wasn't either some or all of their operations suppose to go to the new team in Hoffman Estates, aka the Chicago Hounds?

Richmond is rumored to be going to Hoffman Estates. Missouri is in no man's land.

I even Flint may not be in the U next year. Although that story seems to change from day to day.

Missouri has a ten year lease with 3 years left on it, so it's wrong to say they don't have a lease for next year.

Well, let's put it this way, they don't have an owner who wants to field a team there so the lease is useless. It's too bad because that was a great market for this league at one time.

Jim,
According to an April 19 article from the Flint Journal, UHL commiss Richard Brosal announced Flint would be returning next year - the team owner also announced - GET THIS - the team might be changing its colors and logo from navy and gold to black and silver - as if there aren't enough teams wearing black already. The article said the front office staff wasn't sure if that would happen or not.

That would be like the Komets changing to red, white, and blue...oh wait, we already did that during those LOST YEARS.

Thought you might be interested in the Flint info.

I've heard Alaska Aces fans will be sad in a month or so.
