Tailing the Komets

Wednesday's scrimmage

Black beat the White 2-1. Dan LaPointe and Stephon Thorne had the goals for the black, and Kaleigh Schrock for the white. LaPointe split the defensemen and went in one on nobody to beat Nick Boucher. Thorne had a wicked wrist shot top shelf that there was nothing Boucher could do. Schrock put in a rebound of a Brandon Warner shot... The black is killing the white because their defensemen are moving the puck so well. Both Molles, Starenky and Jamie Milam look fantastic. They get the puck and move it right away... The white defensemen are stuggling terribly, particularly Warner and Hotte and the black forwards are forechecking them like crazy... Bobby Chaumont played on the white team today and they switched the goaltenders... Llewellyn shows flashes, but has not been consistent... Jesse Bennefield said he's hoping to play this weekend... Rizk and Yngwe are the real deal. Both are big, can skate and are always around the front of the net... The first 15 minutes were played without a whistle today and everybody seemed fine keeping up the tremendous pace. The last 20 minutes were probably slower because of that, but they were still moving pretty good... No news on a potential third goalie, which they won't really need after Thursday anyway... Al Sims said they've gotten calls from agents on other players, but so far they are happy with what they have... He plans on playing mostly rookies and younger players Friday in Dayton and more veterans Sunday in Fort Wayne... They'll probably make cuts Saturday morning and Monday morning... Haven't noticed Brett Smith or Chris Auger doing much yet, but as I said yesterday, might be because I'm looking through the camera lens... LaPointe has looked pretty good both days.

Great update and thanks for posting the video Blake. In your opinion do you think they would look at cutting a Auger or Smith if they haven't seen anything in camp? I only ask as there's been so much focus on "all jobs are open" would that carry over to some of these guys or do you think since someone like Smith that was recruited to come here is safe? Curious on your opinion on this?

I have never doubted they might cut a veteran or anyone this year.

shocker!!!!! warner is struggling bad!!! as many will say he has no business making this team this year.....to many talented people this year.....its not that he is struggling but its that he just doesnt fit on this team.....

From the updates so far the players they recruited are on the money. The proof will be in the next few weeks on who they kept and how do they perform. Sounds like Thorne, Mele and Trottier are having really good camps, that's encouraging to see some of the rookies doing so well.

Blake, how has Thomas looked? No news tells me he really hasn't done much or has been steady. And in total agreement about BW. He doesn't deserve to make team. The end of last year should tell us that.

What about the twitter king (McIlrath), how has he looked?

I have not noticed him, but again, please take that with a grain of salt because I'm trying to do so much with video, photography and taking notes, it's not like I'm sitting there like a scout evaluating everyone. It would be incredibly unfair to say so and so isn't doing anything simply based on what I'm noticing.

Blake would Olivier Hotte be much
of an Enforcer for the Komets.

Hotte also looks like a impact player
