Opening Arguments

Well, excuuuse me

Blogging has been a little light this week. I'm on the panel that got to interview 17 high school students for the journalism scholarship we award each year, and this was also the week the editorial board began doing endorsement candidate interviews for the May primary. I'll to pick up the pace next week.

(The students were exceptionally bright and talented this year. Usual crop of candidates so far, though.)

After spending most of my life living out in the country, I live in the city at this point, about half a block from a middle school. Sometimes, I sit on the walk with my dog, and we watch the kids walk by, and sometimes the kids stop and talk to the dog and me.

They've been striking me as exceptionally bright and talented. I figured the kids haven't changed, that they just appeared to be because my own intelligence and talents have been fading. I'm glad to know that kids elsewhere are exceptionally bright and talented; maybe my own senility isn't as advanced as I thought.
