Tailing the Komets

We've got a series

The Komets won, and they looked a little better, but I'm not sure they'll be able to win the series unless they continue to improve. What do you think?

We won ugly tonight...We can not skate with Rockford and must take the body more. We must also put the puck in the net, we must of have had 2 or 3 missed open nets and hit the post 3 times. The 6 men on ice call was the worst call I have ever seen called in a hockey game. That call there could of determine the outcome of the game, but it did not..Go K's

Glad it is a W. I was getting nervous at the end there. Galbraith is one of the toughest playoff players I think I have seen in a long time. I know he lost his cool at the end there...but he played his butt off. Kelly Miller once again proved that he is the most under-rated player around. He skates harder than anyone on the ice and makes things happen...Why did coach forget about him in the last 6 minutes of the game? He should move up to the #1 line with Galbraith and Goodwin. That would be one heck of a line to watch. PC needs to step it up some. He is a good player... we need his big play. He played physical, but his talent is not showing right now. Maybe a shuffle in the lines could help him too.

Big win...need a huge game Thursday to tie this up. It should be low scoring and very physical.

Mizzi is the biggest jerk cry baby I think I have seen this year. Why didn't he get a penalty tonight for taunting the officials? He was pushing it way too much. Glad to see Little Worm show his arse out there and get run from the game. That guy is an idiot. Nice to see Watson taunting the crowd before the game and in between periods on the bench. What a nutjob.

Go Komets!!!

Hit that is exactly why I said you do not want a guy like Big Snake on your team. What good did he do them tonight? Does anyone think that his teamates thought about the goals he scored all regular season as he was screwing them in this game?

I hear you...I wouldn't want that #2-hole anywhere near this team. That hole team is a bunch of cheapshot hacks out there. Just like their coach. Hope we stick it to them. Lance almost finished off Dickie tonight. Very close.

Coach actually agreed with the too many men penalty. He said if PC had lifted his stick and let the puck go by, he doubted if the call would have been made, but he left them no choice since it was his man, Luciuk, who came on the ice.

Big Snake go the game for abuse of official.

Blake does that penalty come with a mandatory suspension in this league?

I'm sure it does, but a lot of it depends on how the ref writes it up so we'll see. I didn't get to see the official gamesheet so I don't know how Mondalek wrote it up. There were different interpretations. I was sitting behind all the action so I didn't see all of it.

Also depends on how our UHL league office decides how to read or rewrite the rule book too. Haven't seen that one this year.

Well, I am sure you can guess how I feel about anyone putting their hands on an official. I would also think that much like Ron Artest, this guy has a reputation and should not be given any kind of benefit of the doubt. When the players start to think it is ok to touch an official, the entire integrity of the game is ruined.

Big Snake has a slew of Game Misconducts to his credit this season. I know at the end of the regular season he was receiving manditory game suspensions every time he received a Game Misconduct. I wonder if that holds true for the playoffs.

Like I said, that's what I was told, but someone else said he just grabbed his crotch to show the ref what he thought of the call.

Either way, the Rockford folks are expecting him to be suspended.

Depends on if the league wants Fort Wayne to have any advantage or not. I get the feeling sometimes that the league would like to see us win less often in this league. Can't prove it...but it feels like it sometimes. I am not alone on that.

I think that's just nuts Hit! Muskegon could say the same thing. I honestly believe they try to do the best they can with what they have to work with. It's an impossible job. It really is.

Hit I have to say I think you are off on this one. Fort Wayne has the best home attendance, has some of the best travel fans in the league, is the oldest established franchise in the league, is by far the most stable franchise in the league. In short, the Komets give this league credibility and name recognition. Heck when Joe Franke did his thing a couple of years back, many people around the WORLD found out about the UHL for the first time when people like Paul Harvey and ESPN told the story. If the league was anti Komets they would be cutting their own throat

All that being said, if the Komets and fans can use that kind of thinking (that everyone is against them) as motivation, then maybe it would be a good thing.

So glad the Komets won this game, but I can't come away thinking there is little chance they can take 3 more from this Rockford team. Hanging on for a 5-4 win doesn't give me a much confidence as a 5-1 win would have. We have no margin for error, and one good period by St. Pierre out of nine doesn't give one much confidence. This Rockford team is just too physically strong for us to play four times in five nights.

Wow!!! What a game!! It might not have been pretty, but we got the job done. Nail biter at the end. I actually think the penalty calling was way one sided. I thought maybe Mondalek would be a little more fair. Good grief, they ram Frenchy and put him on his butt, and they get nothing. We touch cry baby Robinson and get a 4 minute the other night. I have to say the officiating in the UHL has been horrid this year. We won't even talk about John Searle. I saw a tremendous amount of frustration on Rockford's part last night in the 3rd. I knew they would do anything, and hurt anybody for the win. Didn't work jerks. Also, great way to get the crowd fired up. We needed that badly. Thanks for the music. GO KOMETS!!!!!!

Not to change the subject, but did anyone see Chaulker at the game last night? I didn't. Has he been banned from home games too? Certainly hope not!

I was wondering the same thing. We looked all over for him. I would certainly hope that they haven't banned him from the games. What would that prove??

Nope-Chaulker along with Neumie were both at the game last night-they were sitting behind the Rockford bench up a little higher-umm 215 I think it was.

A couple thoughts:

1. Frenchy has played well so far in this series. The problems the Komets have had so far are defensively, not goaltending.

2. With Robinson now being out for the series, the Komets should be able to take advantage of Dockie or Vogel and continue to shoot the puck on the net. HUGE advantage in the pipes for the K's.

3. Big Snake should get at least a 1 game suspension for his antics last night. Way to go....

4. Johnson was just about as bad with his stupid penalties, especially the last penalty with 3 minutes to go when he tried to ax Dombo. Brilliant.....

I agree with you Blake. The Komets need to play much better defensively if they want to win this series. Goaltending for the Komets is great, defense is not.

No wonder I couldn't find him. That's my section! I was looking everywhere but my own section. Whew! Glad to hear they were there.

That's pretty bad. I have friends that sit in that section too. I went over there to talk to them and never saw Chalk or Neumie. Glad they were there. I agree with Komet Fan. Frenchy has been outstanding. Defense has been a little weak.Hopefully, they'll work that out ASAP. I think A.J is a hustler, maybe he'll help pick up the slack from the other ones that seem to be strugging. Kelly Miller has been a huge asset too. Talk about hustle!!

Sorry, I stuck Kelly in there with my comments about defense. I just had to say something about his play in general since we've had him back.

Tony E -- no comment in Galbraith's 10? You could sub his name for Big Snake's and your post would read the same.

Being that we got some heat for Lucuik/Robinson I didn't think it was smart to lay Dickie out. You only open up the chance of someone doing it to St. Pierre. On the flip side, being a biased Komet fan....I loved it. When Galbraith came around the net for some reason I knew he was going to make contact with the goalie. I think there was a "no-call" on a Rockford player just before that happened. It was intentional but really he didn't have alot of space to manuver and Dickie embellished the contact a little.

Tony E
Wed, 04/26/2006 - 8:44am

Two different players skate. How many suspensions has Galbraith had this year? How many teams have gotten rid of him for being a team disruption. I can tell you this, if ANY Komet made contact with an official I would be all over them. I remember the day I burned my prized Roberto Alomar autographed Blue Jays jersey the day he spit on John Hirshbeck. I have no tolorance for that.
You want
Big Snake on the Komets? You are entitled to your opinion. I think he would be a disgrace to the uniform and the city. His goals mean nothing when the opponents know it is easy to get him to lose his temper in a key situation. But there will always be a place in sports for the Artest, Owens, Big Skakes of the world. Some people will always believe that the talent is worth the trouble. I am glad that the Komets are a class organization and do their best to keep trash out of the orange and black uniform.

Speaking of Kelly Miller - I think he has been the brightest spot on the Komet roster this year. He really works hard every game and he's scored how many short-handed goals. He has become my favorite player this season, next to Chaulker, of course. What a catch! Make sure we bring him back next season.

During the first period Lindsey, Chaulk and Nuemy were all sitting in the Bud Box, I thought it was kind of interesting that Chaulk was climbing down and over seats to make sure Lindsey had a seat near the rest of the players, his leg must be feeling better. Let Go Komets!!!
