For some of you old timers: How about in days gone by when the program vendors would yell, "Get your Komet hockey lucky number souvenir programs!"

JR

How about the lines when playoff tickets would first go on sale that would wrap half way around the lower arena....

The days before ticket master....

How about years ago when WKJG with Hilliard Gates would broadcast part of the hockey games live on Sunday afternoons. WKJG already had the cameras at the Coliseum for the high school basketball regional and semi-state so they would broadcast the last two periods of those Sunday games. Not sure, but I'd say those were in the middle 60's. Does anyone remember exactly when those took place? It's been a long time since I've thought of that.

It all adds just a little more to the fabric of Komet hockey in Fort wayne.

Not sure of the dates Alan but I'm thinking early 60's more so then mid but I could be wrong.

Here is the real longevity test. How many remember the pre-Zamboni days? The chain link fence at the ends prior to the glass and nothing but boards along the sides?

We sat on the ice in the end and my dad would get so upset at the refs (some things never change) he would climb part way up the fence and shake the heck out of it while yelling at them. My mom got speared in the chest one time by a stick that came through. I also remember after a game we could jump over the boards onto the ice and mix with the players. The original "skate with the Komets" without skates.

LOL

No, but somehow my dad mad cranking the car engine a game so my brother and I would argue over who go to do it. Well, not really......

Blake mentioned Roy Chin's smile, I'd like to add his jokes. He had a million of them.

Wow we do have some oldtimers here!!! LOL Alan me Steve!! Yes i remember the chain fence and the side walls did not have glass there either...people ducking all the time. Remember the old drab light tan paint job in the rink?? No color to set it off and they finally painted it in the seventys i think....but is ugly then. Norm Carrol was the organist before Jack Loos came along and the ch.33 games with Hilliard Gate was in the early sixties. All us old farts need to get together and have a good time.

Speaking of old times: Sitting in section 156 on wooden chairs behind the penalty box with Jerald as our usher and big ole Satch keeping an eye on everyone.

BTW - How is Satch?

JR must love that guy with the hot nuts.......He's got the hottest and sweetest nuts in the MC, right JR? LOL

If we could get that guy to put his nuts in the 2 nutted fruitcake....wow, that would be something.

2-4 weeks on my arrival. I hope it is more like the 2 weeks. We'll see.

I hate to say this but here goes. I remember when the reserviced the ice with 55 gal drum filled with hot water after the shoveled it off with snow shovels. I know folks that is a looong time ago.

Teresa215--Satch is hanging in there. His health is not very good. Remember him in your prayers, Please! He is a great man!

Hillard Gates did the games in the early 60's.

How about "Game 7, triple overtime, were you there?" And the followup question...."did you go to work/school the next day"? (yes, my son and I were there, and nope, neither one of us went to work or school!)

And playing the drinking game whenever you hear someone on the ice drop the f-bomb? Getting double points if you guess who will use it first? (OC or Al?)

HitSomebody's classic re-naming of Muskegon's Lumberjacks....Lumberjerks, SlumberCracks, etc....so many more, I can't remember them all.

And Game Misconduct, that "intro" of the other teams' players had me cracking up the other day. I've gotten away with not really having to explain it, but when I sat in 215, I was close enough that my 9 year old could really hear it this time and understand it. Oops. Oh well, it's still funny.
