Tailing the Komets

What would you do?

The Komets have their 55th season coming up and they sometimes like to tweak their uniforms a bit on such ocassions. What would you like to see?

I've always been a fan of the 1963 star jerseys from when they won their first Turner Cup with. I've also always been partial to having colored shoulders instead of the white. I think the orange shoulders with the black road uniform would look pretty cool. I've never been a big fan of Captain Komet, though. Not sure why.

Here's some examples of what the Ks have worn over the years.

So what would you like to see?

Hi Blake!
Great topic - I'm the one who showed you my book of IHL and UHL uniforms a few years ago by the way.

I would like to see, for a white turn-back-the-clock jersey the second-year Komet jersey, as modeled by Eddie Long. That was an awesome jersey for its day.

My pick for a dark jersey would be either the 1972-73 Komet road jersey - the one with the black fireball worn by Robbie Irons in the illustration. It was fairly plain, with just black sleeve trim and numbers, but it was still neat. The 1962-63 red and black star jersey would be cool too because it was so different.

If the Komets do come up with another orange and black jersey, they HAVE to bring back the barber pole socks like they wore in the 1960s and early 1970s.

I know the past year or two the Komets have worn orange on the road more frequently - I would like to see them go back to orange on the road full time. I said it earlier on here that too many teams wear black - it is no longer intimidating.

Thanks again for the great idea!

Gotta disagree with Blake, Captian Komet rocks! Would love to see him incorporated somehow.

How about something like what the Flames do? Maybe have a K with flames coming off the straight part of the letter?
Not sure what color scheme to use though with Calgary I love the orange jersey with the black logo.

Tony E's got something there. I'm tired of the all black. I think the third jersey's they've had for the past couple of years have been great.

Can't have too much orange in my opinion!

Just an fyi, Sports Business Journal is reporting that "Michael Shanahan Jr., owner of the UHL's Missouri River Otters, laid off his staff and plans to cease operations. The team, which played at the St. Charles Family Arena in suburban St. Louis, has struggled to attract fans and advertising dollars in a sports market dominated by the MLB Cardinals, NFL Rams and NHL Blues." No surprise there, just confirmation.

I too like the orange jersey that Robbie Irons is wearing. I agree with others that there's too much black and not enough orange. Whatever they do though, keep the fireball. Never go back to the red, white and blue from the late 80's. I hated those!

Also, if no one knows. Roanoke Valley Vipers announced they are closing down. 2 confirmed with it looks like another two on the way out.

Missouri's not dead yet. The league is negotiating with the arena.

What about Motor City. Last report I saw that they were trying to move the franchise possibly to Traverse City.

I knew something was going on in Missouri. It is never a good sign when you shut down your website!

I've always loved Captain Komet. I also think the uniforms worn the past couple years look fantastic, although I much prefer orange to black sweaters. That said, I do not care much for the FW on the orange sweaters. I agree with you Blake on colored shoulders, and would always like to see the team wear orange stockings. From the old uniforms, I do like the ones worn by Eddie Long and Cal Purinton.

This doesn't really address the question but I think that the alternate 3rd jersey, the orange lace up one, is the best looking one that I have seen.
