Mello Yello Kid....come on SuperFan, you gotta love the Mello.

Jaramir Olivier Kotyluk Stayzer should have gotten the goal they gave to Guy....He clearly tipped it past the Goalie...

And JOKS, did fight Rechlicz and....wow.....I think both threw punches that missed, but Stayzer needs to work on his fight game, because it is really bad....I mean, he could kick my and SuperFans butt with no problem, but he really looks bad out there.....stop Grabbing the jersey and start throwing some knubbs.

Schrocky Balboa on the otherhand....that kid can fight. He took on a guy, Goulat, that was at least 12 inches taller than him, and pounded that big ox......I could hear Mick yelling "Knock his block off kid.....Knock his block off Schrocky!!!"

And Superfan......it was a very tight game. You underestimated Quad City. That is a pretty decent team over there. They played hard and have alot of team speed...they couldn't finish at the net, Haun was pretty solid, and our defense did just enough to win that game.

O'Connor dominated that game, but couldn't chip the puck int he net. As did Chaulk, Shaf, and even PC Buddy....I saw PC throw his body around out there tonight. Nice.

Al was mixing the lines around so much tonight, I was lost as to who his lines really were. Loads of mixing of the lines. One time I saw Warner, Stayzer, Chaulk, Mironovic, and Guy out there at once. Basically 4 defensemen and 1 defensive forward.....if you know what I mean.

Saw lots of other things, but I will stop there for now.

I thought Stayzer had scored, too, but he said it went in off the defenseman's leg. The puck was defiitely deflected.

It was a very boring game. Komets should have won 4-1 or 5-1. Quad City has NO OFFENSE. Two shots in the third, including a 5 onf 3? Last four minutes of a one goal game and you can't even get the puck out of your own zone? Quad City is awful except for its goaltender.

This was a game where Hukalo would have made all the difference. This was the type of game he dominates.

this is the thing the ihl has loaded up on goalies this year we will find alot of nights where we have the better team yet the oppenents will come close because of the goaltending

I know what you mean about the jerseys. Who told them that lime green was a good idea? But hey, it really brings out the green tones in the ice.

I must admit that I thought they looked fairly awful. There was one point when one of their players had something that vaguely resembled a breakaway... sort of... Then the guy completely fanned on it when he went to shoot... if you can even call it that. It wasn't even a good fan. It was then that I knew this wasn't going to be the most exciting of hockey games. :P

But deflected or not, that Dupuis shot was sweet.

The green jerseys reminded me of "sliming" from Ghost Busters. Think about that coming at you on the ice? Slowed us down a bit given the difference in shots on goals and our results??? Maybe they have something going after all. Game didn't have to be as close as it was--but we got the job done! Go Komets--pick up your speed tonight and get the Gems !!!

If you all think they look bad you should try and read the numbers. I know it is the Off-Ice officials job to read them but it took everyone working together to make sure we got the correct players on the ice. The sleeve numbers are worthless. The lime green may or may not look good on the ice but the numbers are impossible.

I agree with "super fan" Quad City reminds me of a Puhalski coached team. They are just waiting for the other team to make a mistake so they can capitalize on it. Only they don't have the skill players to do just that. They are well coached and played very hard and their sweaters SUCK!

When Quad City came out for warm-ups, I had this unexplainable desire for a lifesaver, a skittle, or a margarita.....I, too, thought Stayzer deflected Dupuis' shot but I sit in the other end of the ice so i couldn't be sure....I'm going to catch a lot of 'heck" for saying this-but I believe in honesty; this team, right now, is very ORDINARY. They have no pure goal scorers, no one seems to want to "crash" the net, and either they recognize this need or they will be a "middle of the pack" team. They should have "killed" Quad City as they had quite an advantage when you compare shots on goal. The talent level is high which makes this hard to understand. This team has plenty of guys to set up others but lacks the one or two "snipers" it needs to complement them. Ok, I'm going to type this and before everyone jumps on me please think this through. The Fort Wayne Komets need to waive Blair Stayzer and replace him with a goal scoring veteran. Here are my reasons and I'd like to think that they are logical reasons. 1) Why is he here? To provide "toughness"? Does anyone really think he is a heavyweight? Think of it this way-last year when he was with Kalamazoo, did anyone think he was an outstanding fighter? Then why would you now? 2) He is a veteran. Those veteran spots are precious, and believe me, the Komets would never dream of letting go any of the other veterans on this team....Last night I thought Haun played well, O'Conner hustled all night, but my outstanding player of the game would be Frankie DeAngelis.

Alan - Funny you should say that. I was just talking with those around me last night about who would be let go when Hukalo and Bertram came back. I know Saidachev was let go, but that makes up for Warner right? So don't we need to let two go? Surprisingly Whitehead hasn't seemed to do a lot out there. On top of all of that, what happens if/when Syro comes back?

As far as players who are doing well, I'd agree with Schrock. I'm also quickly becoming a HUGE fan of Klempa. He's always playing about 5 sizes bigger. I thought Varone was throwing his body around more last night than I've seen in awhile. While I will agree that it wasn't the most exciting game last night, a boring win looks exactly the same as an exciting win when it comes to the standings in the win column.

I must be crazy....but I really enjoyed last nights game. I must be a hockey nut. I kept saying, this is a really good game. Oh well.

The one thing you guys might be forgetting right now is this...we don't totally know what is going on with Bertram. Stayzer might be Bertram insurance right now, and Stayzer might not make the same coin as Bert does either. Just a guess. Bertram looks pretty comfortable in the stands watching right now. I wonder how hurt he is, or if he is thinking about hanging up the skates. Stayzer gives youe 2 things, he can play as a Forward or a Defenseman, as can Warner and I think Woodard too. So those 3 guys are valuable in that regard. They might well bring in another veteran goal scorer at some point, you never know. But I wouldn't see that happening until once Mac's suspension is served, and when we see Hukalo and maybe Syro back in the fold, that is if Syro comes back?

This team has options in the roster and we have alot of good ones.

This team has played 8 games and won 6 of them. So they didn't blow Quad City away and one blogger is standing on the ledge of his 3 Rivers Apartment Building getting ready to jump because of that and because of Stayzer.....well, I can only say, everyone is allowed an opinion, but I think you need to come down from the ledge and relax. This team will be fine....they will contend for another Cup, and it will be a fun year. I just don't see where all the anxiousness is coming from....

Someone help a fellow blogger out here.....

Hit, I don't live in the Three Rivers Apartments. Nothing about the Fort Wayne Komets would ever make me contemplate suicide. When I want, and if I want to relax is my business. The fact that Stayzer can play up front and back on defense is a positive for him, but not enough of one to "treasure" thus far. Whether Bertram comes back or not would not change my opinion. But, I sure do appreciate you allowing me to have an opinion. I don't need help here.....I've thought this totally through.

You missed my point.....I think the team is dealing with trying to figure out how everyone fits under the salary cap. I am a little suspicious about the Boucher injury....anyone else? He won't play the 3 games this weekend....they brought in an Emergency Goalie in Tyler Simms, that doesn't go towards the cap, I don't believe....Warner was active last night, or he would have had to be put back on the IR or waived, and we have MacMillan on suspension, his salary goes towards the cap, and we are down a roster spot. I think they might be using creative methods in protecting players from being waived and also staying under the cap until they have everyone back and healthy.

I wasn't implying you committing suicide Alan, it was a figure of speech. Just like they talk about us Cub fans jumping off the ledge every year when things turn south....ask Blake, he feels my pain.

This thing is complicated....but it is like a giant jigsaw puzzle.....the suspension hurts bigtime, guys coming off the IR kills them, and trying to juggle the roster not knowing for sure when Syro will be back too. It has to be difficult.

Make sense.

Plus, really, 8 games in, we are 6-2, no worries man. If they were 2-6, I would be leading the parade to some extent....aks Blake about that too, he knows.

Smile, enjoy the Komets.....waive Jaramir Olivier Kotyluk Stayzer if you want to.....but don't drive yourself crazy over it.....things will be ok.

Sorry Alan....no offense. Just talking. Go Komets!!!

Free Buddy's Pizza if you can find one still in operation....LOL

Thanks, Hit. I truly understand everything you have posted. I just didn't know where you were coming from with the "jumping" stuff. Now I do, and I really appreciate you coming back on to clarify it for me. You are correct that MacMillans suspension really complicates things. I do not believe that they are "playing" with Boucher. He wasn't put on an IR list so his salary still counts against the cap. The reason it is so frustrating to me is that they really do have a lot of talent on the roster. If you would check back on my posts as far as a month ago you will find that I've been calling for two snipers and an "offensive" defenseman. Well, they got lucky and got one of those "snipers" when O'Conner came back. I still think they need another and that is why I keep harping on Stayzer. I never really understood why they took him in the "draft" and now I feel that his "veteran" spot could be used to help plug that scoring need. Salary cap issues, MacMillans suspension, Syro's return, and the IR list certainly does complicate everything. Have a good time at the game tonight. We need to take these two points.

Everybody in the entire league needs scorers. Scoring is dramatically down all over which leads to my point that overall the talent level is down league-wide.

see i am under a different idea that the goaltending is a heck of a lot better than it ever has been in the ihl and maybe thats why the scoring is lower, boucher is no longer the best goalie in the league, i have seen mior nolan coliacovo and centomo. all of them look like they can compete with boucher for that spot this year
