Tailing the Komets

Where does Game 7 rank?

Among your all-time favorite Komets games?

Some others to consider: G7 91 vs. Indy; G4 91 vs. Peoria; G3 93 vs. San Diego; G2 93 vs. Atlanta, on the road; 96 (I think) vs. San Antonio with Bezeau and Racine; Tony Horacek We're No. 1; Fletcher scores in the shootout vs. Chicago; Fletch returns; G5 2003 vs. QC; Ramsay scores in OT vs. QC 2000; 4 OTer vs. St. Paul 1960; Fitchner takes on Flint.

Help me out here, Chuckitt, which ones am I missing?

Among my favorites....G-7 vs. Indy, G-5 vs. QC, G-4 vs. Peoria (I commented about this one in previous thread) G-3 vs. SD. I would also like to nominate for consideration the Ice Scraper Game (An Amazing come from behind win!)

I would enjoy seeing a video of Fitchner taking on Flint....That was before my time, but I've heard some of the stories.

the games that stand out for me are 1. playoff game back in the early sixties that went into overtime and was at the time the longest game ever, cant remember the year..2. any game between indy and fletcher..3. fitchner versus flint...4. the game where bob philips got his eyes gouged by mcsorley and then phillips went beserk climbing and walking on the boards trying to get at mcsorley and 4. the winning turner cup game in port urine during 1973 and 5. my favorite of all.. the next game we get to play! we are so lucky......

Blake, This has been a tough question because we always seem to live in the present and forget how great past events were. And I was there for a lot of the great games you mentioned that happened at home in Fort Wayne dating back to 1960. But when I consider this team's regular season record, the pressure they themselves and we put on them to win the cup because of that, the failure of so many really good Komet teams to win the cup after winning the regular season trophy in past seasons, coming back from down 3 games to 1 to force game 7 especially by winning game 6 on the road, the drama and tension of going to 3 overtimes in a Final Series game 7 with both teams having many great chances to win, the Komets having most of those chances, and then winning in that 3rd OT on a goal by a 19-year old rookie right out of juniors. This long-time fan will tell you that Yes, I think this was the greatest game in the history of the Komets. It took me a while to get there, but that is how I feel now after two weeks have gone by.
