Your choice of a winner disgusts me JM......

GO AAHL!!!! Could you imagine the great rialvarly between the West Michigan Blizzard vs. Fort Wayne...epic.

It would be a lot like the Dayton vs. Fort Wayne games from last season.

I'm not really rooting for either team in the finals, I'm picking the winner from an unemotional standpoint. I know a lot of you guys are Blackhawk fans, so I'd be happy to see them win, I just think the Flyers are hotter and have a goaltending advantage.

so is the quad cities on line source, the radio station in Bloomy that announced it from their unnamed source? is that how it works just one big viscious circle? is that how you spell viscious?

When someone who controls the checkbook at these privately held businesses goes on the record, then i'll get excited.

wait, this just in, breaking news, an unnamed, relaible source nodded and winked at me today when i brought up the IHL / CHL, she also happened to purr and rub up against my leg. Every indication from this source makes the IHL / CHL talk sound very positive.

The one thing i do know is, that if someone from FWN isn't raising their advertising rates from all the blog hits, well, then they should be!

take this to the bank, i would like to see the Blackhawks win but i think Philly will do it in 7.

i'm gone, everybody remember the reason for the season and have a safe memorial day.

Why doesn't someone just ask Franke if you don't believe any of this stuff, because "Franke never ducks a question, even when he probably should." All you need to do is ask.

Because Frankes answers normally have more twists and turns than a deer path....

Some fans can continue to poo poo numerous sources that say a deal is darn near finalized between the IHL and CHL; but I like to speculate and try to solve the riddle before the answer is given to me... Its fun...

The CHL thing is just a rumor.

Tiger Woods if faithful.

Ditto Jesse James.

Jim Calhoun and UConn didn't cheat.

Rich Rod and the Wolverines barely practice.

Just a bunch of unproven gossip..... (eye roll.)

Really, a Franke must say it... then its carved in stone?

LOL JM........

They have a "proven" track record 'eh.

Monday'ish "Worst case scenario IHL"

Tuesday'ish"Best case scenario IHL"

No one has asked anyone to take the rumors/sources to the bank, but not paying attention to the smoke, will not make all of this go away, so we discuss it. Heck, it's there's a ton more articles then just those two. But why read them when we can read about how the K's are spending their summer?

RunningKomet
Fri, 05/28/2010 - 5:53pm

B!aaaaaahahaha!!! I needed a good laugh, Chaulker. Well, if the CHL stuff isn't true for some reason it'll be fun reading what the reporters who wrote the articles have to say. If the reports are true it'll be interesting how the people on here choose to eat their words. Either way there will be some fun reading this summer. Good thoughts from everyone. I guess I'd just like to hear more from the doubters of the move as to why it doesn't make sense to you other than just because Blake or the Frankes haven't said anything. It doesn't hurt anything to seculate for fun with some good reasoning. That is what makes this a blog.

Burgee, please lend the Frankes some of your sun block for thier trip to the CHL meetings in Arizona next week.... I dont want them to get sunburned!!!!

I also find it fun reading runningkomet, it peaks my interest. Better then watching the NBA, tennis, and the World Cup over the summer.

It's all hockey talk and these clubs couldn't ask for anything better then having people reading/blogging about minor league hockey as we approach June.

Checking out a few things in the CHL. From the teams I checked their ticket prices on average are higher then ours, season tickets anyway, and that's for fewer games in a league with a lower salary cap. Guess those travel expenses can add up.

CHLTV is cheaper then B2, unless they raise the prices before the season starts.

Just realized something that I should have thought of earlier. Fewer games will affect the records to some extent, at least the opportunity to break existing ones. Of course that works for a 70 game IHL schedule also, but not as much as a 64 game schedule. Spent too much time out in the sun today with no screen. That's probably why Burgee thinks of things quicker then I do.

nice potential move, we get to play dayton, port huron, bloomy,qc, 15 times each for a total of 60 games in the big ihlnorth /chl.

Hit Somebody!!!
Sat, 05/29/2010 - 12:09am

Well. not exactly shorty.

I have read a good source, and inside source on FYC say that it is confirmed that only 4 IHL teams are making this move, and that 3 new teams will be added as well, most likely to even up this new IHL division of the C I H L. The 4 teams making the new adventure....FW, QC, Bloomy, and......drum roll please......Dayton. Port Huron is toast as is Flint.

My guess on new teams in the mix for C I H L expansion.....St. Charles Missouri (remember them?), Hoffman Estates Chicago, and Arenaless E-ville.

There has been specualtion of a possible 1 or 2 teams from the ECHL moving out and into this new adventure.....but I can't figure out if this is true or not, if it is true, my guess is Cincy or Toledo, but I find both highly unlikely. Some have brought up Elmira getting ready to make a big announcement.....but they could not be the one going to the C I H L....no way.

I know I have read over the past year that the IHL wanted to move to 70 games, 6 vets, and less salary cap. Well, 76 IHL games to CHL's 64---halfway is 70. 8 IHL vets to 4 CHL vets---halfway is 6. And less salary cap, I had those figures, but it is late and I am tired, someone else can type that in, I think you do get my point here.

I think this C I H L thing has been on the drawing board for a while now....you know, months ago when us IDIOT bloggers were trying to discuss the future of the IHL and the possibilities of a merger or league move.....Us IDIOTS were name-called, laughed at, degraded, so on and so forth....and now that this info is coming out all over the hockey world, you have Foo Foo Nellies continuing their same old same old of discounting the news because there hasn't been a Franke Foo Foo report made that fits into the Foo Foo Nellies agendas.

I am sure that you Foo Foos can wait...say....7 to 10 days or the middle to the end of the week to get your official word from the Frankes. Too bad Bob Chase couldn't make a radio message for all of us downgrading this news and once again calling us Idiots for discussing, thinking outside of the orange and black box, and wondering where all of this is headed. I am sure someone in the Foo Foo Fraternity can now come on here and name call and once again grace us with negative natured nellidom.

Go Komets!!!

I think you may be looking in the wrong place for your ECHL defections (should they happen, not hearing that anywhere except here...). Thinking it may be a west team or two or the team in Florida... Purely guesstimating tho...

A persisting rumor has the Toledo franchise going to the AHL after this coming season and I dont see the Cyclones changing leagues anytime soon after winning 2 of the last 3 Kelly Cups...

JR....Florida? I can't see that one. That would make the landscape in the CIHL even more insane. I am not saying you are wrong, because obviously right now we are all speculating on the unknowns, but that would be crazy.

You would have to believe whatever the 3 or 4 other teams coming into the CHL are, would have to be teams that fit into the new "IHL" division of the league. Because, I would have to believe, that this thing wouldn't be happening for us to be playing only 3 other teams for the majority of the season and no one else. That would be absolutely stupid. And so stupid, that a diehard supporter of the Komets like me, would once and for all throw my hands up and not purchase my season tickets.

There must be some other teams making a move....right now there are 13 CHL teams after 2 teams folded....4 IHL teams moving over, and the number of teams that I have seen reported in 2 or 3 reports I read last night, said specifically that the CHL president said that next year would have 20 or 21 teams depending on expansion markets.

So who are they? Which possible teams fit into our area for the Komets to play?

Here are my guesses:
*St. Charles....I hear very possible.
*Evansville.....I hear not at all possible this year.
*Louisville.......name was thrown out by the guy who has been the most solid source for months on this CHL/IHL merger.
*Iowa-Des Moines....probably maybe?
*Hoffman Estates.....my guess is there is a deal out there for them as long as they can get owner Craig to agree and negotiate a deal with the Sears Centre. Not sure if it can be pulled off or not.

A wise man told me that there are most definitely people in ECHL franchises within this geographical footprint unhappy with the direction of the ECHL for their cities. Whether or not those areas drop their ECHL teams, re-form a new ownership and team and arena agreement to move to the CHL.....we'll have to wait and see. But I am saying that I trust what this wise man says because another man mentioned it publicly, and this wiseman confirmed it. So...we'll see.

Bottomline, there has to be more to this deal than just 4 IHL teams going into the CHL. There has to be 2-4 more teams in this scenario or this merger would not happen, at least it would seem.

Hi RunningKomet. I hope your comments of the doubters wasn't directed at me. I have put on record my hesitancy about joining the CHL and my reasons on both blogs.

My opinion doesn't come from fact ( as no announcement has been made and no details have been released ). It comes from a "gut feeling" that we are going to lose some of the neat things we have enjoyed with the K's from the UHL and IHL.

I've stated over and over that I will be patient and that I have faith that the Franke's will negotiate a fair agreement if this is truly the road we are traveling.

My hesitation to this agreement is in the form of fewer games, less veterans, and a substantually lower salary cap. Those are facts.

What I can't back up as a "fact" is my fear of Global Entertainment Corporation as the CHL "owner". I trust my instincts and my instincts tell me this is something the Komets should run away from. Part of their business is to build buildings, manage the building and place a CHL franchise in them as the primaty tennant.

I'm not sure what anyone from the IHL gains from this if the "I" is just going to play within itself. I read Hit's entry which alluded to the fact that both Port Huron and Flint would be out. I, for one, do not like that. Port Huron used to be the "weak sister" in the league before the Kinney's took over. Now they have been a good partner, standing tall, when other more stable franchises fled. I believe the IHL owes them something and loyalty works two ways.

OK. All this is speculation until something solid is agreed to. I will be patient. I just wanted to respond to your challenge of "hearing more from the doubters".

I think RunningKomet was referring to those who steadfastly refuse to discuss any rumors about new leagues or anything else even after there are numerous media outlets siting sources on the same...

I have my reservations to going to the CHL; but have been told by those "in the know" that this could be the precursor to big things for AA level minor league hockey... One step at a time, so to speak... I have asked for a more stabile league and depending on all the details, this could be it. I will have to put my money where my mouth is and get my old seats back. I'm a man of my word, I spoke with my money 3 years ago and I will speak with it again if everything thats comes out looks good and not just a smoke screen "affiliation" that some have hinted at...

And Hit, I thru in Florida based on some rumors that they were watching the IHL situation closely a lil while back. I have heard nothing since; but dont think it would be any more crazy than teams in Indiana, Ohio, Illinois and S. Dakota in a league with teams mainly from Texas... And we have heard the west coast ECHL teams are unhappy and contemplated defecting and maybe even starting thier own league.... Just some thoughts...

One wild and crazy time for minor league hockey!!! Fun stuff...

I think overall....one thing we can agree on....at least I think we can:

The ECHL has made a huge miscalculation and mistake here. They could have embraced the midwest teams of the IHL and could have gained dominance in the AA game. Bringing in FW, QC, Bloomy....well to me, that would have led to Evansville, Chicago, Louisville, maybe Indy....and I am sure possibly a whole bunch more.

They took their high and mighty stance on this thing, and it might be , just might be a fatal mistake down the road for them. If what you say ends up being true, that the ECHL West teams are unhappy and contemplating jumping ship, and what a wise man or two or hearing that ECHL teams near the midwest are mostly inhappy with things....The ECHL is in trouble.

I wish everyone would start calling people out its more fun that way. If you go back and read one of hit's posts and read it using Fic's voice its really scary.

On a stats note, Hit just surpassed Alan for word count this week. What's this I hear about mishawaka/south bend having a team? My friend Jay told me that one I'm not trusting the cat nip source anymore.

Ok I'll start, Schebig, you don't know what you're talking about, I said mightbite was fat and happy from that olive garden gift card! I enjoyed raw chocolate chip cookie dough and a coke zero today.

Where have all the red headed hockey chicks gone? I did see an orange headed dude running mcdonalds drive thru today, we shot the breeze about komet hockey while holding the line up!
