Canada I guess. They're supposedly our friends and all. That and even though the Cold War is over and the Russians aren't the scary bad guys they once were I just can't root for them! :p

Canada to win....

Ovechkin to clean Crysby's clock....

Four minutes to go in the second period between the Swiss and the USA. Reminding me a lot of Komet games this year as far as the frustration level as the USA can't seem to score. I think the first team that scores will win.

How can you not love Jerome Iginla?

Holy Crap!!!!! I was getting worried... Parise finally got one past Hiller...1-0 USA

Are these IHL refs? That was a cheap penalty on Ryan Kesler that took away what would've been the second USA goal.

I'll tell you a story about Iginla. We was waiting in line to get a autograph & I'm not the most patient person so we left and he came over to us.I thought that was really cool.

Would have been Canada for me except there were way too many people there cheering for the Swiss, meaning the Canadians were rooting against us... That changes it, Go Russia!

Rocky

I can see Luongo saving Canada's bacon. (ar ar)
And because of it I can see USA vs Canada for the gold.
I'll take Canada over USA but if USA wins then Canada can only blame Edmonton for trading away Gretzky.
I love watching Russia though and it wouldn't bother me in the least if they won.

That said, watch Sweden win it all.

Ever since Captain Ivan Drago killed Apollo Creed I've hated the Russians. This will be tough for me to root against Malkin, completely against my programming, but I'd like to see the U.S. play Canada again.

Russia!!!

Ovechkin > Sid.

No matter what this is a great day to be a hockey fan! Already 1-0 Canada... And I noticed too that there were a lot of people cheering for the Swiss during the USA game. Maybe I take back wanting Canada to win. Hmph.

Good game but I lost respect for Boyle & Getzlaf.

Agree with Rocky, if Boyle can't take a hit, tough crap.

In the PC world we live in, Milbury ought to be fired for his "euro trash" statement. What a fool.

Ovechkin and Crosby were non-factors.

Canada all the way.
Gold medals in Hockey and Curling. Who needs anything else?

If the U.S. doesn't get the medal, then I'd root for the Canadians. The only downside would be that I'd have to hear their national anthem again. Is there a more boring/aweful anthem out there? That thing never ends and is so monotone and unoriginal... God bless America!

Gee, Frozen Water. I love the Canadian National Anthem. It's almost like a hymn. Also, next time, notice how many people in the stands sing it. It is a tune where your voice range doesn't have to be an octave and a half (unlike the Star-Spangled Banner). In fact, the end of your post would be a great national anthem for the United States, "God Bless America".

I guess it's a personal preference thing, Alan. It's just never grown on me. I liked one rendition of it I heard before an IndyCar race at Michigan sang by a young woman who put a lot of emotion and range changes in it, plus it was in French so I couldn't understand the words. I'm just a big homer :)

I'm with you, Frozen Water. It is just personal preferences and there is nothing wrong with that. If we all were the same it would be quite boring, wouldn't it? i hope everything is going well for you. By the way, you don't know of anyone who can score a goal a game and works cheap do you?

Did Crosby even play in that game? I don't think I heard the announcers say his name more than once!
As far as O Canada goes, I don't mind it. I found myself singing along to it on TV, that's when I knew I'd watched too many hockey games!

As long as you sing O Canada it's not that bad, really. Comment on Crosby. He has been our best player up until last night. When the rest of the team shows up then no heroics are needed. You can bet the Russian game plan was to key on Sid, but they forgot the other 20 guys. The best way to play hockey is to be looking at the other defensemen's behinds all night. That means you have them turning and retrieving. That was the difference last night. If you give a team time with the puck in their end they will make the outlet pass and be away in transition.
Who would have thought 2 days ago that Russia and Sweden would be going home. That's why the Olympics are so special.

I wish I did, Alan. All the guys I'd like to see back are expensive. The Joker makes reference to this saying in the latest Batman movie: If you're good at something, never do it for free.
