Tailing the Komets

Who do you like?

Kalamazoo vs. Danbury.

Isn't it interesting that the two highest-paid teams are in the finals?

I sure like Danbury's goaltending, and I wonder how the layoff is going to affect Kalamazoo which has had it pretty easy to this point. I think Kalamazoo will win a road game so I'm saying the Wings in 6.

Wings in 4

I guess you could say that kzoo, Muskegon, and Danbury all bought their way into the final 4 with the top 2, Kzoo and Danbury, buying there way into the finals. Blake how much money will these teams have to pay in taxes? Will the UHL disclose the amount?

I have no idea, and no, they won't. Private corporation and all that.

I say K-Zoo takes Danbury in 4 games. I'm just glad that Muskegon didn't make..if they would have made it..it would have been like watching the New England Patriots making it the Super Bowl...it gets boring.

If they are paying the luxury tax for being over the cap and they win a championship in the process....then good for them. It worked out best for them. It is something every single team can do if they choose to do so. Now if you are referring to "under the table" payments to players, well that too can be done by every team in the league and you would be nieve to think that nobody else is doing it in some form or another.

Call me crazy (or any 4 letter word of your choice lol) but I think Danbury will pull it out in 5. I think that Danbury will play chippy and take KZoo out of their game. Isn't what I want but I think it is what will happen.

K-Wings in 4 or 6...

I was inclinced to say 6...but it seems that everytime you a doubt a team that has gone 8-0 can go 12-0...they surprise you. It won't be won in 5...so it'll be either 4 or 6.

Any fans going?

I'll be there Friday.

Funny how Danny Stewart and Dustin Virag are both in the finals!

I'm pulling for K-zoo! But I really don't have a preference. I like Danny and one of the other guys on Danbury; but I would really like to see k-zoo win b/c this maybe Dustin's last year.

I think this series will go right down to the wire. I'm rooting for the K-Wings to win in 7.

I'm pulling for the Trashers. If the Wings win I'll be happy for them too. Just glad that Muskegon isn't back in.

Danny and Dusty obviously were not championship caliber guys, that why we got rid of them. What infanite wisdom.

Don't forget about Beauregard as another Komet in the Colonial Cup Finals!

Just because Kalamazoo has swept both of the 1st and 2nd rounds, doesn't mean they will do it again nor win. Don't get me wrong, I want Kalamazoo to win. The thing is that you just can't count on a team to do that all the time.

Jungle Monkey, before you jump on somebody for their wisdom, you might want to double check your own spelling. LOL.

Another question, is there any team David Beauregard HASN'T played for yet? He's like the UN ambassador for minor league hockey. 13 teams in less than 10 years. Paris Hilton has had fewer boyfriends.

Holy Crap, are you serious? You're calling me out for a spelling error? Is this the first entry you have ever read in this blog? Give me a break.

It just cracked me up when I saw "infanite'' wisdom. At first I thought you meant infantile but then realized it was infinite.

Relax, I've been at work so long today that I'm slap happy. I need beer!

I want to see Kalamazoo win it all. They have improved as a team over the past few years, much like Rockford as done. Plus it will be nice to see someone else win it for a change. My guess (for what it's worth) is Kalamazoo in 5 games. I hope that Dustin Virag has a good Finals...my wife is a huge fan of his.

I think if you look at offense, defense, special teams, and goaltending, the advantage goes to the Wings in each area. Wings win the Cup in 6 games.

I'm hoping the Wings win it in 4. I went to one of their games up in Kzoo when they played Motor City. They deserve to win. I was impressed.

On a side note, Blake what is your proof that the two "highest paid" teams have made it to the finals? That is a big statement, and I would like to know how you know that.

If Danny Stewart and Dustin Virag were on our roster still, they wouldn't have been playing in the Finals. Neither of them are contributing that much or are key players for those teams.

Tony E

I agree with Jason. Remember, with those two guys the team was 5-11. The players the Komets received in trade for those two became much bigger components for them than Stewart or Virag became for the teams they were sent to.

Picked K-zoo at the beginning of the year, and I havent changed my mind...

Kalamazoo admitted publicly a while back they were going to go over the cap and pay the price. Danbury has a higher payroll than some AHL teams, which is part of the reason they had to get rid of so many veteran guys at the roster deadline. If anyone thinks Danbury is anywhere near the cap, there's a reason the government is looking into them.

Rooting for K-Zoo all the way. In 5 games. Seems rather fitting that Daigle was the one to help take out Muskegan huh?? I would love to have Bo back. Huge mistake on Puhalski's part. He'd come back in a heartbeat. We always talk about having a big scorer, we had him, and lost him.Like so many others. I'm afraid to see what kind of shake up we end up with next season. Hopefully, better defense.

Ilovehockey there is a reason the guy doesn't stay put for very long. When I suggested Duhart would be a help people reminded me of his lack of defence. Bo is worse! All he does is cherry pick the blue line and wait for breakout passes. The day he gets back deep in his own zone to help out on defence is the day Hillary Clinton gets elected president (that won't actually happen will it!?!?!?) I have NEVER seen him go into the boards and get involved in a scrum and he shys away from contact. Can he score? Sure. But he is your classic one tool player

To all, the next time you ask Blake for "proof" on something he writes, just remember what former Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien said and I quote
""A proof is a proof. What kind of proof?
It's a proof.
And when you have a good proof,
It's because it's proven."
