Not surprising

I think it's more of a so what suspension. Not going to hurt the Komets. Woods just needs to think a little when he gets angry. That's a difficult thing to do and I'll admit that I don't think clearly when I get angry either.

That's a joke. Woods spears a guy in the head for crying out loud and gets one game???

I'm a Komets fan, but if that's all he gets, that's a complete joke.

Sims is going to "suspend" Woods throughout the playoffs anyhow, especially with Mac back.

First Woods really never came in contact with the Dayton player, lucky he didn't, but he never did. Both Woods and Mac both will play vital role in the play-off's because they are both agitators and grinders. Nobody else fills that role better than those two.

Woods agitates alright... My entire section each time he's stupid and puts us down a man... Relating this to the question on the other thread, I'd take the Woods from two years ago over this Woods in a heartbeat (and he made stupid decisions two years ago too, but at least then he could fight without getting his a$$ handed to him each time). This is totally personal opinion, so disagree if you'd like, but I'd take a healthy Legault over this year's Woods (whether he's still out of shape or not) at the drop of a hat.

I'd take a versatile Brandon Warner as an extra skater at this point and Mac getting some big shifts too. Woods needs a Mohawk and a seat next Jaromir Legault and they each can wave orange and black pom-poms and maybe even blow one of those long and skinny horns all game long.....perfect.

I guess you guys don't remember the Woods of Playoffs do you? How many times two years ago did he get people to drop the gloves or get a roughing because he verbally agitated them and he skated away.

How about Smolinski letting everyone know what really is going on in Flint. What a sad situation for those players, but at least they are playing like professionals and may just make the play-off's this weekend.

I agree Sgriffith. I'll be rooting for Flint on Sunday if they are still in the playoff race. I think the IHL is done...

Will be a very interesting off season...

Lets do a quick rundown of who's left in the IHL:

Fort Wayne: Back next year
Muskegon: Gone
Dayton: Owned by 20 everyday people, should return
Port Huron: Nobody going to games, may not return
Quad City: Good ownership group and good attendance Returns
Bloomington: Returns
Flint: Not a chance in the world there is pro hockey in Flint next year
Evansville: No decision made on whether they want to join next season or 2 from now.
Chicago/Illinois suburb guy: No arena, no players, no team

So, we have 4 teams next year locked. If it came down to it, I believe that Evansville would be forced by the Franke's to join the league to give it the 6 needed for international visa's. However, the biggest question is what's going to happen in Port Huron. If they go juniors like Muskegon, then the IHL dies. No way the league gets 2 teams for next year out of the blue.

This what at least 3 people have told me....Evansville has given up on this IHL and don't trust the future of it. They too are looking elsewhere for options in their new coming arena. ECHL, CHL, or USHL there.

Chicago, owner there has gotten cold feet again from what I have heard. They too are looking ECHL or CHL.

Port Huron is on an island now alone. No other Michigan teams to make the travel worth while. Their closest team now would be FW. They either get packaged into a merger or they go Juniors. They need Kalamazoo just like we do. Yes I said it.

Next years IHL teams if there is such a beast:

FW, Dayton, QC, Bloomy.

Unless I am missing something or a miracle happens where Cincy, Toledo, Peoria, Indy and K-Zoo decide to join the IHL next year.

There has to be some sort of Merger in the works or 3 region system being worked on behind the scenes. Otherwise....it will be ECHL or CHL......and wouldn't the CHL leave us a long way away from the teams in that league? Seriously. The CHL would be a horrible cost in travel alone.

ECHL.....or New Merged Midwest Regional League controlled by the ECHL, IHL, CHL----NHL?

We shall see.

We could keep all the current "IHL Management" and just play everything but Komet homes games at Canlan! Just think...$30 a night and you'd get Flint hosting Bloomington on rink 1; Port Huron hosting Quad Cities on rink 2; and an open skate on rink 3!

He might be the nicest guy on the planet for all I know...but bringing Woods in this year was worthless. He wasn't spearing him, he was tapping on his head to let him know he was back in the IHL.

Maybe we can appeal the suspension...always a chance he could still get 5-6 games.

I have nothing worthwhile to add to this, but wanted to say thanks for making me laugh with the banter about Woods...you've said all the things I've been thinking, so I'm glad to know it's not just me (for once).

The only way Woods is playoff MVP is if his tantrums, pouting, and dumb penalties are so exsessive that Muskegon feels obligated to give him the award.

Woods has been nothing but a waste of space on the roster. He hasnt proved to me anything. He always taking stupid penalties and hell he cant hit the net when he shoots!

Let's hear it for the Komets who have the greatest fans in all of hockey. Because with fans like you who needs to play away games.

LG, instead of bashing others for thier opinions, can you please give your opinion as to why they are incorrect in regards to Woods in your eyes? That would add to the discussion and maybe get people to see other things they may be missing... Thanks

It looks like he got the crap kicked out of him! HAHAHAHA! What a waste of space! And to be clear, I'm referring to the guy in the story this time, not the Komet.

Okay, you got Woods. Now who wants to have a Warner lynching?

Frozen Water

Wendy, I cannot believe you would throw a Komet player to the wolves like that... SHAME ON YOU! We would never think of doing that to our Bran-Bran. Don't you know he's a hometown guy?? He should be your hero!
