Opening Arguments

You mean life isn't fair?

Being poor sucks, what a shock:

People with lower socio-economic status appear to age faster than their better-off counterparts, British researchers said on Thursday.

Clearly life isn't fair. Less clear is whether we should try to make it more fair.

I think that debate is over. The question, at least since the New Deal, has been how far we go to make it fair and how much we take from whom and what we spend it on.

While I would have to agree that life basically isn't really MEANT to be "fair" (as we would like to define the word), it should boil down to whether or not the CHALLENGE (to ourselves) of overcoming whatever "unfairness" is dealt to each of us is sufficient to warrant our active participation.
When we choose to sit back, put our feet up, throw up our hands bemoaning our "fate", and do NOTHING to change that...ANY fairness will fall by the wayside.

That's just common sense.....another tool that helps make things more FAIR.
