I'm hearing this is more of a done deal for the CHL, and also a lot about St. Charles, Mo.
And here's last night's game from the Evansville side.

Just for fun, re-read the Evansville article. Whenever they mention "Icemen" substitute "komets". Wherever the name "kromm" is written, substitute "Sims". It sure sounds familiar, doesn't it? Kind of eerie in a way.
Any team placed in the West would be a boon for the CHL. St. Charles, Missouri would be a big help for the Illinois teams plus a natural rival for the Mavericks. St. Charles would also kind of be a "bridge" between the Midwest teams and teams that are in the Great Plains.
It sure seems strange that this "news" is coming out now, when so much speculation is flying about the Komets (and others), leaving the CHL for the ECHL.
Is this a desparate ploy to anchor Rapid City to the league by replacing the Eagles as their natural rival with Denver? Is this a "sign" for the K's to abandon their plans of going to the ECHL? How far away would the Sundogs be from Denver. As of now their closest CHL team is 1100 miles away. Talk about ridiculous.
None of this takes in account of any CHL, or ECHL teams for that matter, who are in trouble and may be leaving or going dark after this season.
My advice for the K's would be to continue on whatever path makes the most sense. I think they've already decided.
Minor League Hockey - the club for people with more money than sense (and want to get rid of the money). Read the article for the names of all the other attempts that failed for one reason or another. That's ok - this time will be different, I'm sure. (And Denver is about 800 miles from Prescott Valley, AZ - still a heck of a bus trip)
Interesting that the article doesn't mention what league the Denver team is looking to go into. Is it possible this new team could go into the ECHL and help the Eagles? Sounds like the CHL might be trying to throw some teams together as a last ditch effort to save the league. IE: St. Charles.
I think the best path for the K's is to stay on course and goto the ECHL. It is time. Don't look back, full steam ahead.
Players to keep for next season in the ECHL: Smith, Auger, Chaumont, Rizk, and Thorne.
